- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 49 reviewsThe hotel offers apartments right next to a slope. We had a ground floor apartment, which was perfect for our dog, and overlooked the piste. We could literally ski to our backdoor everyday. Hotel is dog friendly and the rooms are spacious even for our big shepherd. The pool and spa area is big, with plenty of deck chairs, 2 hot tubs, 2 saunas and 2 steam rooms! Again this looks out onto the slopes! There are a few restaurants nearby to dine out from, there is also a restaurant that delivers fondue equipment and ingredients at night so you can cook in your room. We stayed over Christmas and it was amazing, can't recommend enough.Guest review byNatashaUnited Kingdom

The ski area is great for everyone.
The ski area is great for everyone. There are plenty of green and blue slopes as well as more challenging runs and snowparks for the advanced skiers. The transportation and lifts are well run and were not too busy despite it being half-term. Good snow on the higher runs. Do not expect English to be spoken, it's a very French resort. Great restaurants and takeaway options, as well as traiteurs selling readymade meals, rotisserie chickens and lots of delicious local cheese and wine.Guest review byRuthUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I was motorcycling the Route des Grandes Alpes with a friend. This hotel was at a convenient location after descending the col de Izoard at the end of our first full day. The temperature outside was 34c. The hotel provided exactly the kind of break we needed after quite a demanding day. After food and refreshment, a good nights sleep and a superb breakfast we felt well prepared for our next day's riding. I'd recommend this stop to anyone else doing the same trip!Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
It's a very nice little town.
It's a very nice little town. I was mainly for cycling, there are plenty of options nearby. I loved the place for that. I will go back next year. We ate kebabs and pizza in the surrounding restaurants, and sometimes we cooked in the apartment. We did not use public transport, or traveled by car or bicycle. There is a kebab place two corners down, the maxi tacos, you have to try them, they are very delicious.Guest review byMátéHungary - 10.0

The accommodation was cosy, well maintained and had everything I needed plus it is really close to Orelle ski lift. The only thing missing was an oven, but not a major drama because there is a microwaveGuest review byNicolasUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I went to Termignon on recommendation of a hiking guidebook.
I went to Termignon on recommendation of a hiking guidebook. It's a very good base for exploring the Maurienne valley as it's roughly situated at the midpoint. Lanslebourg (up the valley), and Aussois & Modane (down the valley) have more amenities than Termignon, but it has the essentials. Moreover, it's easy to get to the others by bus or car. There are numerous trails to hike or mountain bike. There are also several via ferratas in the valley, from easy (F) to extremely difficult (ED), many concentrated at Fort Victor Emmanuel. Besides the valley itself, there's also the Vanoise National Park and Lac Mont Cenis that are well worth exploring. If you're up for a challenge there's the Tour of the Vanoise Glaciers - the mountain huts (refuges) are excellent but you need to book in advance as they are very popular.Guest review byJonathanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We travelled from Italy avoiding the tour de France route so passing by Susa, Moncenisio (we know this area pretty well, our first stop is always the bakery for our butter pastries.), Modane and saint Jean du Maurienne and then up to Montvernier, fantastic road from there to the hotel at Montaimont. Two roads lead up to Montvernier and one is like Alps d'huez! It's a lovely area. Great free Opinel museum at saint Jean du Maurienne. Sain Francois Longchamp looks like a mega ski resort, fantastic. Looks well organised. Going over the col and down the other side was just as spectacular.Guest review byJANINEItaly - 10.0

17-century baroque village with old, well-set many years ago ski area: great pistes, unique climate on Thimel, 150km of excellent snow traces for any requirements and difficulties. Valloire has everything you can expect, incl. ice area, bowling, many restaurants, shops, ski rentals. 2 cabin lifts up from the centre of Valloire.Guest review byHajsLatvia - 8.0

The Maurienne valley is absolutely stunning, once you get past the "industrial" bit, with a scattering of lesser known ski resorts (to brits). Spectacular views and access to some remarkable ski tours make this a great area to visit. A car is a definite bonus, though there are regular buses to other areas. We only ate at the Vieille Poste - 3 times, no need to go elsewhere! Most of Lanslebourg has avoided the architectural ugliness of many other ski resorts, and some bits are genuinely lovely.Guest review byPERRYUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Perfect town to base yourself for cycling many bucket list climbs though a car is handy to drive to Aple d'Huez and Bessens for other climbs. Still don't get why France shuts down from 12.30 on a Sunday as there are so many good restaurants but not opened when really needed. We really rate the local Indochina restaurant - food superb and cheap.Guest review byJames HallAustralia - 8.0

I liked the tranquility of the place and the access to other stations in the Val Cenis area. However you need a car as there no effective shuttle service. I was touched by the Pleureuse memorial to the First War dead.Guest review byRupertUnited Kingdom
