We were using Oban to access the Cal Mac ferry to Lismore, as my partner's dad is buried there. Everything went very smoothly and we had a nice sailing there and back. We enjoyed a couple of excellent meals at the Waterfront Sea Food Restaurant and ES-USK Seafood Restaurant. Enjoyed an evening of live music and a few drinks in The Oban Inn. Finished the trip off by visiting McCaig's Tower, with excellent views over the town, sea, and surrounding Islands.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Amazing part of the country with wonderful scenery.
Amazing part of the country with wonderful scenery. Most staff are extremely pleasant and friendly, but not all. Arrochar is a bit of a one horse town, although it's a great base for touring some amazing parts of the country. It's a very relaxing village with a lovely walk along the lochside.Guest review byHowden - 8.0

We stayed only one night and probably should have stayed two. The town itself is lovely but takes only a short time to stroll along the harbour and browse in the gift shops. With another day we would have done the walk up to Tobermory lighthouse and maybe taken a whale watching tour. Several excellent restaurants - we went to MishDish which was great and would have been good to sample more than one. Definitely worth a 2 night stay, but maybe not more, unless you plan to drive or cycle around the island and visit other attractions such as distillery, nature walks etc.Guest review byClareUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The views from Inverary are exceptional.
The views from Inverary are exceptional. The residents of the town are very friendly If you want to unwind, slow down your pace of life, find real peace and relaxation then Inverary would be an excellent choice to visit. We ate an evening meal from the local fish and chip restuarant and sat looking down the loch enjoying it. Walking around Inverary is easy . It has wide pavements and the town is flat with no steep gradients.Guest review byJamesUnited Kingdom - 8.0
I liked the relaxed vibe on the Island.
I liked the relaxed vibe on the Island. Enjoyed my stay and views at the Cadillac hotel. Enjoyed a meal and beers at the Kustom Cadillac Hotel. Enjoyed the Taverna Pub in Rothsey. The open bus tour of the Island. A tour of the spectacular Mount Stewart House/ Castle. Rothsey golf course and a bit of fishing in the Firth of Clyde. Also enjoyed the 35 minute Ferry Cruise!Guest review byDouglasUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Luss is a quaint little town with not many facilities but a useful local store. We were there for the Highland Games which were a fabulous life experience. The loch is gorgeous and the surrounding mountains are stunning.Guest review byCynthiaUnited States - 10.0

Regular ferries. Lots of catering and pubs and quirky shops. Beautiful old churches and regular activities in the Castle House museum and the Burgh Hall. Swimminig, cinema, supermarkets. Lovely nature trails, walks and climbs within walking distance of town centre.Guest review bySTEVENUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from Glasgow - we took an afternoon bus to Tarbert and got private transport to Kennakraig ferry terminal the morning after. The town was lovely, with a nice castle and a couple of good restaurants as well as a pub with plenty of whisky options. We might have even stayed a bit longer had we known it was such a lovely place.Guest review byManuel E.Poland - 10.0

Quiet village off the main road but within easy access of it. Some guest houses, a railway station ( Oban to Glasgow line ), bus / coach stops, a general ( food ) store off the centre. No restaurant, cafe, food stands, pubs nor bars however. Walking paths from the quiet road to the Duncan Ban Macintyre monument, quiet side roads to Stronmilchan (Old Military Road ) and along the river Orchy. Easy access by car, bus, coach, ( care if walking along the main road ) to Kilchurn Castle and to the Kilchurn Castle Viewpoint on the side road to Inveraray.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom
