- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 524 reviewsI loved the comfort and style of this hotel. The shower was impressively powerful . I was doing my whistle-stop tour of England visiting family and this was by far the best hotel. The village is a very typical picture postcard english village . A perfect base to explore Devon and Dorset.Guest review bySarahFrance

Wonderful place with very friendly staff.
Wonderful place with very friendly staff. Julie and Zara were extremely helpful and offered to help in anyway. A warm welcome from the moment we walked in. The room was an upgrade and had a lovely view of the lake.Guest review byPatriciaJersey - 2.0

The facilities around the Belfry were non existing the shower we were offered was way to small anyone quite large would not have gotten in if you wanted to go out for evening meal you couldn't unless you drove somewhere and you wouldn't be able to have an alcoholic drink with it due to the country lanes drive back taxis don't exist until Thursday's at the earliest we only stayed one night and escaped thank god the money we paid doesn't matter to us and I think if you check your records you will see this for yourself I think you should remove this place from your list so no one else gets a booking that is misleading with incorrect information 😒😒😒Guest review bypriceUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Leo and David are the most welcoming and friendly people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting , The room was lovely and quiet a little haven tucked away in the middle of country side, I didn't want to leave and hope to go back , Try the kings arms in stockland for lovely meal or a short trip to uppennyGuest review byTraceyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Accommodation is very much off the beaten track and you definitely need to add time onto any direction times given by the sat nav as the roads are tiny. But it is worth persevering. Some lovely pubs to eat at (would recommend booking) and beautiful villages to explore. Great place to also start for some of the larger tourist destinations around Devon and Somerset (once you are off the village roads).Guest review byBelindaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

There didn't seem to be much actually in Buckland St Mary but it is so close to Chard and being just off A303 it was within easy reach of loads of places. Ideal spot for a quiet get away. The Eagle Italian Restaurant was a fabulous place to eat which is only a few minutes up the A303.Guest review byMarguerite HelenUnited Kingdom - 8.0

A very beautiful place but we had gone with the intention of walking but unfortunately there wasn’t really any walks we could do from the site. We expected to be able to do king signposted walks from the site across fields etc but the only one we was told about would mean walking along a lot of no pavement roadsGuest review byRoslynUnited Kingdom - 6.0

There is a pub, just over the road from the Belfry that shut (lease not being extended) on 09 Jul 22. However there are a number of pubs etc. just a short drive from the property. Yarcombe is very small, there is a church and on a Saturday morning a small market in the village hall, which we went round and there were some nice things to purchase.Guest review bypeterUnited Kingdom - 8.0
A beautiful parish I did not know about.
A beautiful parish I did not know about. A bit of a hidden gem with a strong community and collectively owned pub. A place I would like to explore more in the future. Fantastic scenery with hills and woods all around.Guest review byLizzieUnited Kingdom - 2.0
This hotel is NOT for DISABLED!
This hotel is NOT for DISABLED! This hotel is not for fine dining. Room was always warm and well-appointed for able bodied folk. This site is for pet lovers, able bodied. I was disabled so required to be driven from the room to and from the restaurant, as I said this is no place for the ambulatory challenged as much of the site is heavily large gravelled paths making it impossible to use my wheelchair. The fact that we were roomed up a graveled hill of steep incline, another reason we felt imprisoned when in our room. As a note for all disabled people booking new hotels use booking agents AFTER you have spoken directly with site management.Guest review byAnthonyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Small village. Church opposite the accommodation.
Small village. Church opposite the accommodation. On main road with easy access to tourist destinations. Lots of local pubs for evening meals are often down very narrow country lanes which can make driving adventurous.Guest review byTerenceUnited Kingdom
