Cozy, little room with super modern furniture and a fresh new feel about it. Felt right at home. Very comfortable bed and luxurious bath supplies. Loved the freshly baked cookies as a welcome gift. Great location for exploring the surrounding highlands and to go off hiking. All in all a very nice stay. Will definitely recommend and return. We were sad to leave.

The stay was lovely, the room was beautiful with big and nice bed. I really liked the bathroom, very spacious, and there was a possibility to try local brand toiletry, which was great. All in all very clean and cosy. Also, our host was very nice. I really recommend to book dinner at this place as well, it was very delicious and made from local ingredients. I can easily recommend this place.

The property was beautiful, in a perfect spot to base yourself if hiking into the hills nearby! Room was clean and comfortable, perfect for our two night stay. Pub connected to the hotel was so cosy, great food and great atmosphere. Me and my partner are both vegan, and the staff were very accommodating and made sure we hade breakfast options! Was a lovely stay, will definitely be returning.

Aviemore has a great buzz about it – a proper gateway to the Cairngorms with a strong tourist vibe that makes it feel lively year-round. The high street is packed with outdoor shops, from big names like Ellis Brigham and Tiso to smaller independents, so whether you’re after hiking boots, ski gear or a new waterproof, you’re well catered for. There’s also a good mix of cafés, pubs and restaurants, which keeps the place welcoming after a day outdoors. It’s the kind of town where you instantly feel in “holiday mode,” with a steady flow of visitors giving it energy without losing its Highland charm.

One of the so-called “new” Scottish towns built in the late 1700s, based on a modern street pattern (Beauly and Ullapool also come to mind), there is a spacious central portion (called a “square”, even though it’s more of an extended ‘rectangle’) lined with a diversity of very active businesses and establishments. I had a lovely dinner in a central hotel that had hosted Queen Victoria and Prince Albert during its heyday. As it is located on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, Grantown-on-Spey was a good jumping off point for delving into the Central Highlands.

A very scenic town centre. A good supermarket and several specialist shops (bookshop especially) . just try and avoid the sweetshop (far too tempting) Several nice restaurants and an excellent fish and chip shop. Bike hire by the old station and easy routes along the old line.

I was not visiting Newtonmore, but climbing. Newtonmore is a nice village with some good hotel restaurants and bars and is in a lovely setting in the hills. its probably a good centre for a touring holiday, and there are quite a few good places easily reached from here.

Kingussie is a beautiful town, brilliantly located in the middle of Scotland, within reach of many wonderful sites of interest, including historic Ruthven Barracks, a number of castles and gardens, the stunning Cairngorms, and much more. Outdoor and adventure activities abound throughout the region. Not too far to go to Ben Nevis, Fort William, Perth, Inverness, Morayshire...

    Very disappointing stay.

Very disappointing stay. Staff were rude and unhelpful - especially at breakfast. Dining staff Bella’s behaviour was shockingly unprofessional and not acceptable. Dirty, smelly rooms, one with a broken bed. Complaints were brushed off with a simple “sorry.” We booked 4 rooms for family visiting from Canada and deeply regret choosing this hotel. Definitely not worth the 4-star rating.

Nestled amongst the mountains with paths and tracks leading all over what’s not to like? Sadly, the general facilities here have gone. No shop for example. One place did have a sign out for coffee, but there could be an opportunity here for someone. Worth climbing up the Cateran Trail heading south to get stunning views looking down on the village. Also visit the stone circle, old bridge and the church. Just soak up the atmosphere!
