Fabulous location - the moor was just across the road, with moorland ponies, sheep and lambs grazing within metres of the gate daily (April). Fantastic menu - particularly breakfast - kippers with a poached egg was my favorite - with greek yoghurt with berry coulis and chia, pepitas and prunes. Dinner menu was good - but breakfast was exceptional. Beds excellent. Staff a delight - felt like a local - genuine, warm, funny, engaging. Lounge was premium - very well done. Bar robust and cosy. Plenty of powerpoints for laptops.

The place is a real gem - the room was super comfy and particularly well equipped while being both modern and well designed. The lounge and restaurant were the same - very comfy, using the old style of the building while providing some modern qirks. All in all the place is really beautiful and it was a pleasure to stay there.

Very charming and comfy, cozy room and big living area, the staff was very nice. Breakfast was good and with lots of choices. Had a pint and dinner two nights in a row and it was quite lovely, some regulars from the town and other guests, overall an amazing experience and many trails easily accessible for hikers ;-)

This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Every member of staff was exceptionally friendly, professional and helpful. The atmosphere was relaxed, and we felt we were part of the family. We will be returning, and highly recommend that you visit this great hotel. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the beauty and wildlife of Dartmoor. I cannot find the words to praise the staff at The Dartmoor Lodge enough. Thank you.

It was a lovely, quiet location with plenty to do. We were greeted by chloe the dog on arrival and had a brief tour of the farm. The accommodation was clean and cosy and the perfect size for a couple. The added little welcome pack (milk in the fridge and a basket of snacks) really made it. We I wouldn't hesitate to visit again :)

The girls at the Dartbridge Inn are really lovely warm, professional, friendly and courteous. Our room was nice and quiet despite the hotel being beside a road. And the breakfasts are delicious + incredible value. Highly recommended. You ideally need a car though, as there isn't proper pedestrian access from Buckastleigh.

We stayed New Years Eve. We had booked a room and advised we were vegan. We had the most fantastic meal, so many courses, such great flavours. The chef asked what sort of food we liked in advance and the meal was superb. We will be back. The staff team were attentive and very nice. We felt well looked after.

Buckfastleigh is the perfect place from which to explore the Devon coast and the Dartmoor National Park. Buckfast Abbey is a delight to visit, there is a steam railway to Tavistock and the butterfly and otter centre near the station is well worth a visit. Dartmoor National Park is a short drive away.

Moretonhampstead is a nice old market town with a good deli and butchers and a couple of nice places to eat. It also has some interesting medieval alms houses and a good art gallery next to the church. It has a walk/cycle path that connects it to pretty villages not far away.

We visited Lydford specifically for the gorge. The Whitelady waterfall was lovely but a very long steep trek for just one waterfall. The Devils Cauldren was the highlight. A shorter, but more tricky, walk. Amazing sheer sides with a roaring river in the bottom. Steps clinging to the sheer sides with just a single hand rail to hang on to. No dogs or children allowed in the more hazardous bits. I was alternately amazed and terrified.

Overnight stop. We didn't want to stay in central Plymouth. Wifi is difficult in the area. We got lost and couldn't contact hotel, so stopped and asked someone in the village. A map or directions would have been useful. Looked a lovely village, just didn't have time to wander round.

Room was a family room, 2 bedroom very clean. Make sure you drive the A road up to the property not the B road if you don’t like height’s. Bar stops serving food at 9pm so if travelling late maybe ask them to save you something or make a sandwich. Remember you are high up so the weather can be very different to what it is further down the hill.
