The local people are very friendly and helpful.
The local people are very friendly and helpful. A must are visits to the Abbey and Palace, Pittencrieff park and Andrew Carnagie museum. Jack O Bryan's restaurant, excellent Scottish dishes. Dunfermline is the perfect area from which to be based and explore the Fife coast, Perth ,Kinross, Stirling and the Trossachs. Local train station and coach tours. Golf too.Guest review byDanielUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Very nice little city with two nice beaches (I preferred the West Sand Beach tho). There is a few very interesting museums that are mostly free. And St Andrews University with its three combined colleges and old buildings located all over the little city is very pretty and interesting. Even tho I m not particularly a full on fan of golf I did enjoy the golf/links and history of the golf side of the city. The Jannettas Gelato and Northpoint Cafe are really nice and affordable. The the topping and co booksellers (shop) is big and really really nice. It’s a city that has lots of charms and could please diverse and different interests. It particularly made me want to read books on the grass or in St Mary’s Quadrangle or in a bench, on Sunday it is allowed for people to walk on the old course which is a nice place to read too but maybe it’s preferable after 4 pm when people aren’t too much walking around and it’s less crowded then.Guest review byGautherot - 8.0

I was born in Kirkcaldy but my family moved away when I was fairly young. My reason for visiting was tinged with sadness as I was attending the funeral of an old friend; but It was lovely to go back and see how my birthplace is faring.Guest review byGloriaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Harbour, shops nearby.
Harbour, shops nearby. Mostly uncrowded, except chippies on weekend evenings. Good local restaurants, local food, easy to book. Nearby working harbours, and St Andrews within easy reach, and good to visit. Several farm shops, all good quality, for fruit, veg, bread, fish, meat from local sources.Guest review byBerinUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It is very convenient for avoiding the problems of Edinburgh (( parking, inflated room prices, terrible congestion and road works) It might not as picturesque as some other places but has aminaties and is ideal for visiting Fife Edinburgh etc.Guest review byNeilUnited Kingdom - 4.0
My meal on the first evening was cold and overcooked.
My meal on the first evening was cold and overcooked. The black pudding Bon Bons on the second night were also cold but hot on the first night. The room was satisfactory but would not have rated this as 4 star, not much different to a premier inn. Facilities were poor, not much to do. As a group of 9 people we used the pool/snooker room, Informed on the first night it would close at 11pm. Ordered drinks at approximately 10.40pm and at 10.45pm were told by a young member of staff that his supervisor told him to tell us 'we had to leave'. When we asked the young staff member, who had worked there for only a few weeks, who his supervisor was he couldn't even tell us his full name. Members of our party approached the said supervisor and were given a very rude reception from this so called supervisor, the same response was received when they questioned why were able to order drinks 5 minutes prior to be asked to leave. They were told if they didn't like it they could leave the hotel. All in all, not the best response after we had spent so much money eating and drinking on the premises. If a supervisor/manager cannot respond in a professional manner and expect a young staff member to do his dirty work, then he should not be a supervisor. Will never return.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Well situated to travel to Edinburgh by train (Leven rail station) superb promenade , excellent beach . St Andrews close by & all the fishing villages along the coast make Leven an excellent base to explore the aforementioned + much more in/ around this areaGuest review byJohnFrance - 2.0
A very poor hotel choice.
A very poor hotel choice. No heating in room and extremely cold. No hot water. Very dangerous looking oil filled radiator in room which needed condemning. Food undercooked and expensive. Even manager said standards were very poor.Guest review bySusanUnited Kingdom
