This magnificent building is a fabulous hotel. It is close to the promenade and has a fascinating history. The room we had was lovely with a view towards the beautiful garden. The architectural features are truly fascinating. The staff are next level. We went out to do our laundry and the dryer failed to work. We were left with a bag full of damp laundry. Clare and Michelle took our laundry and returned it dry and neatly folded the next morning. Gold standard service. Ann Marie was also lovely. Upon learning of our interest in art, she directed us to Rozelle House to see some great art and suggested the Burrell collection in Glasgow. We went to both and thoroughly enjoyed them. What a great result. Such an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

We loved our stay at the County Hotel in Helensburgh. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was great. The employees were very kind and helpful. The distance to the city centre is walkable. The hotel seems to be family-owned with a homely atmosphere.

We came to visit Ayr racecourse as horse racing enthusiasts.

We came to visit Ayr racecourse as horse racing enthusiasts. The actual course is fine but the buildings are dreadfully run down and facilities poor. From the outside it hardly open and given the time of year there was nothing to entice families off the beach. Poor racecourse management compared to many others we've been to. The town was also rather run down and I can think of no reason to return.

I love Irvine, the beach is beautiful and you have facilities there as well which is perfect, especially if you are taking children. I love the wee cafes along Harbour street but my favourite is Small Talk, love this cafe. The home baking is delicious! They also have a gluten free selection of cakes. I highly recommend you try this wee place. You have everything you need close by, its such a beautiful place.

I liked the relaxed vibe on the Island. Enjoyed my stay and views at the Cadillac hotel. Enjoyed a meal and beers at the Kustom Cadillac Hotel. Enjoyed the Taverna Pub in Rothsey. The open bus tour of the Island. A tour of the spectacular Mount Stewart House/ Castle. Rothsey golf course and a bit of fishing in the Firth of Clyde. Also enjoyed the 35 minute Ferry Cruise!

This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from Glasgow - we took an afternoon bus to Tarbert and got private transport to Kennakraig ferry terminal the morning after. The town was lovely, with a nice castle and a couple of good restaurants as well as a pub with plenty of whisky options. We might have even stayed a bit longer had we known it was such a lovely place.
