- From US$165.15 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 199 reviewsWe had a fantastic stay at the Dolphin Hotel. The room was spotlessly clean, bed was very comfortable, it was light and airy you were able open the windows, as it was a very warm night which was great. I has a vegan breakfast which was well presented and cooked perfectly, I has toast which was presented on a warmed plate which I thought was a nice touch. The hotel is a short walk to the beach. The staff can not help you enough and are very friendly and professional. We will certainly book a room here again.Guest review byLORNAUnited Kingdom

I liked the slightly old fashioned atmosphere - Punch and Judy shows, donkey rides for the kids, helter skelter etc. The Pavilion is very good; plenty of entertainment to suit all ages and tastes with light refreshment facilities.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Having spent many holidays in Exmouth as a child it was nice to return after a number of years. Not too much has changed, which is no bad thing, and it is still a lovely place to spend a holiday. Having such a wide beach means you can have long walks along the promenade and the Marina is worth a visit too. The Exmouth Museum was new to me and is well worth a visit. The staff were very friendly and informative and, although small, it has a lot of exhibits. It's very easy to take the train to Exeter which has wonderful views of the estuary, and we also drove to St Erth and then took the park and ride to St Ives which is a lovely town and the railway line goes alongside the beautiful coast. Don't miss A La Ronde on the edge of town too. Exmouth has wonderful flower displays all around the town and everything is kept in good condition. Inevitably there are some closed shops but still a lot of choice and many restaurants, pubs and cafes to choose from as well as a cinema. We ate breakfast and some evening meals in the Weatherspoon Powder Monkey which won't be to everyone's taste but you couldn't fault the service, choice and prices. We also went to Prezzo which was very good with excellent service and The Bath House in the sea front. Before coming I wasn't sure if I would want to return in the future but this definitely confirmed it won't be my last!Guest review byMikeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Dorchester is a quaint town that is always a pleasure to visit. It has a brilliant market and there are plenty of shops to visit. It it well served with different museums and the Tutankhamun and Terracotta Army ones are a definite visit for me. There are also plenty of cafes to have some amazing food.Guest review byAnnetteUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Great family location, lots of restaurants to choose from.
Great family location, lots of restaurants to choose from. Only minor issue, you need to try and book tables during high season as a lot of places were very busy. We only found one place where you could book online.Guest review byGreg and Jane - 8.0

I have always liked Lyme Regis the coast line and atmosphere. It gets very crowded and parking can be difficult with long walks involved from out of town car parks. The sea front cafes and shops very interesting.Guest review byIsabeIUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Sidmouth is a traditional seaside town which has retained its original character. It has a long, attractive promenade and the possibility of going on walks along the cliffs to other Devon villages. I had some lovely sunny days when the promenade, beaches and sea were full of families enjoying their time there. The town contains many individual shops, all seeming to be thriving, a department store which has been there for years, a theatre with a summer season, an interesting and well presented museum, and the possibility of boat trips to see the geological cliff faces of the jurassic period. There are no slot machines or pleasure arcades. Simply Sidmouth is a place for an enjoyable traditional English seaside holiday, and may it long remain so!Guest review byMAUREEN - 8.0

Staying in a place on the pier was nice: we barbecued there while the kids were crabbing. The place itself is a little outdated, many closed restaurants (in a bank holiday weekend in august...) but we had a car there so we went elsewhere. Beautiful little beach, cosy flee market on sunday.Guest review byDirkBelgium - 10.0

Portland is great for a weekend of walking as the paths round the island are well signposted and very scenic. The Art cafe in Easton was great with delicious cakes and a secret garden. We walked back into Weymouth along the old railway line, which is recommended.Guest review byRachelUnited Kingdom - 10.0
This is one of my favourite places in the UK.
This is one of my favourite places in the UK. Attractive old town centre, good bus and train services. Plenty of appealing cafés, pubs and small shops. Riverside very appealing. Surrounding countryside very attractive, plenty of good walks. Not far from the coast. Plenty to see and do in the area: Corfe Castle, Studland Bay, Swanage, Brownsea Island, and much more.Guest review byMartinUnited Kingdom - 8.0
