This is the place to unwind, take in the amazing 360 scenery. Theres loads to do, walks, hike, rent bikes, kayaks, paddle boarding or just sit and watch the world go by. I ate at the restaurant Id booked The Glaramara hotel, they prepare exceptional food, my time was taken with hikes up Herons Pike, Scafell Pike and a good long walk around the Derwent lake. It’s a place that asks for your full attention and rewards it with a deep sense of peace. For me, Borrowdale isn't about what you do, but about what you feel—a sense of solitude and connection to something wild and enduring. I left feeling quite emotional and cant wait to return.Guest review byPatrick_AlexanderUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Absolutely stunning landscape.
Absolutely stunning landscape. There are lots of beautiful walks from the hotel and a great tea room - the Flock Inn with wonderful views from the back seatin area. It is short walk to Stonethwaite which has a great pub and mining museum in the church. The best thing is the serenity and lack of other tourists.Guest review byKateUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Bassenthwaite Lake is a quiet mostly forgotten part of the lakes but offers a good place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Keswick. It offers easy parking, good quality and good value accommodation and some great pubs and restaurants.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Portinscale is ideally situated on the shores of Derwent...
Portinscale is ideally situated on the shores of Derwent Water with fantasic views of the lake and the fells. It is perfectly situated for a short walk into Keswick with all its facilities and public transport for access to the rest of the Lake District, or you can take the launch across the lake or catch the bus. From Portinscale there is easy access to walk around the lake and there are 2 Marinas for boating, canoeing and paddle boarding. The café is and lovely and covers a full range of meals at reasonable prices. It also sells a few essential catering essentials. There is a pub and hotel in the village which both serve food. The staff are all very friendly but as at April 24 both establishments require investment in facilities and food quality. The village of Braithwaite is also close , it has a small shop for provisions with 2 great pubs/hotels that are very popular for food.Guest review byElizabethUnited Kingdom
