Winscombe is the perfect location for a holiday in the Mendips. The very friendly village has shops of every kind ...including a bakery and a butcher.... and the surrounding countryside ...including Mendip Hills in every direction... is stunning. For more local walks, the course of the old railway line, closed in the 1960s, is perfect.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Hotel was pretty much as we expected, the staff were very good and the food in the restaurant was very good too. The leisure facilities especially the pool were a lovely bonus. We would have no hesitation to stay here again.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Visited Cheddar only for staying near Sedgemoor Crem as we had a friends' funeral to attend so had not time to visit the gorge etc. Will definitely return in the future when better circumstances ariseGuest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Great location, quiet in the countryside.
Great location, quiet in the countryside. Welcoming and helpful staff, food menu is limited but fine for me. Fussy eaters or Vegans may struggle. Good selection of drinks. Breakfast available (not stated on booking info) at extra cost- that's fine 8.00 am until 10.30 ish? Free parking close to accommodation. Room layout not great with power point behind bed. Shower good basic room and facilities. Generally, clean apart from at high level - must have short cleaners! Would stay again, good value.Guest review byJKUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The cottage was comfortable and had good facilities.
The cottage was comfortable and had good facilities. However,if you are taking your dog(s) to stay there,at the moment the garden is NOT secure, though enclosed. The property is clean and well maintained and hopefully recommendations made will be addressed to make improvements. If guests have mobility issues then walking here would be problematic as it is very hilly. There are lovely places to walk once in the village of Blagdon with lovely views too. It’s easy to access local villages and towns by car, such as Clevedon and Bristol.Guest review byJaneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

One of the highlights of our time in the UK...this was historic, bucolic, charming, and memorable. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable and special place with endless miles of walking trails from the property and cozy pubs just up the street. Book it, you won't regret it.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

We have stayed here before and it was as good this time as previously. It is an ideal place to stay if you have an afternoon flight the next day from Bristol Airport. We also had lunch here which was very good. The room was pleasant and comfortable although there never seemed to be enough light. The breakfast offered a lot of choice although too much emphasis on sourdough which is not really to our taste. The drinks are very expensive although we were given a complimentary first drink as we were hotel guests. All of the staff were friendly and helpful.Guest review byGailUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We like to stay away from cities if possible and to have a good pub to stay at with excellent food is a bonus, we can never find these sorts of places when we look for them so this was an absolute boon for us. Compton Martin is not a destination place but they are down the road to the Chew valley lakes so views were lovely and the village is very pretty to, close for Cheddar gorge, Axbridge, Wells, Glastonbury and Street, we only live in Devon but found lots to do and could have found moreGuest review bySallyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Amazing place to stay, very cozy, quite, owners are top, food were brilliant, only one thing there is no phone coverage, considering that is place to relax i can add to positive side. Strongly recommended.Guest review byPetarUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This was a stop over on the way to Cornwall to see Cheddar Gorge. the food was great, rooms clean tidy and air conditioned. It is perfectly situated for visiting local sites. The vie from the hotel is amazing especially if the weather is nice and you can take advantage of eating outside.Guest review bypatrickUnited Kingdom
