- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 113 reviewsVery lovely. Very nice owners. Exactly what I would expect from a British cottage hotel. Quiet area and surrounding. And most importantly: comfortable bed!! It is not too hard or feels like springs in your back. It is big and I could sleep across (almost). Gigantic shower. Fridge in the room. Free tee and coffee.Guest review byEdvardGermany

Used to live in Burton on Trent over 30 years ago and still have close family there, we sometimes need a place to stay when we have travelled down from Yorkshire. There are some lovely places to visit from there like Calke Abbey, Lichfield. We have also visited The Three Horseshoes Tatenhill and Boars Head Sudbury for food.Guest review byNigelUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Hotel rooms were clean and comfortable, good value for money. Nice place and friendly staff. However, the car park is full of pot holes and could cause a lot of damage to the car if you are unlucky enough to hit one!Guest review byJanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Plenty of National Trust and other "Brown Sign" properties...
Plenty of National Trust and other "Brown Sign" properties and attractions close to the location. Only ate at the Appleby Inn, and the cafe at Moira Furnace as it was January, so many attractions were not open till the weekend, but all that information was available online when we planned our trip. Have always used Appleby Inn or the Old Posthouse, but would consider using a pet friendly location, if we can find one.Guest review byFrankUnited Kingdom - 2.0
This hotel needs a refurbishment.
This hotel needs a refurbishment. I thought I had upgraded for a treat after a long drive and was very disappointed. I should have stuck with a PI or TL hotel for a lot less cost. The faux leather headboards were both ripped/flaking and torn which was very unpleasant to sleep beside.Guest review byArkleyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Everything was great from staff check in /out.
Everything was great from staff check in /out. Rooms were fully equipped. Bathroom clean with towels. A welcome pack of tea / coffee / toilet rolls / milk sachets etc was lovely. The lane leading to the Country club is a one car only with planting of passing bays for oncoming cars . Beautiful grounds and quiet surroundings . My £100 holding fee was cancelled in a day or 2 of leaving . Everything was as we wanted and expected for our stay .Guest review byBennett-g2United Kingdom - 10.0

The property is in Moira not in Swadlincote which is three miles away. Moira is and old mining village on the edge of the Ashby Canal. You can walk along the canal for ten minutes to Conkers, a free park and the entrance to Conkers Water Park ( entrance fee.) Conkers Adventure park is accessed from the village the other side of the canal. The canal in the other direction takes you to Moira Furnace Museum (small fee) and Donisthorpe Country Park. Visit NT Calke Abbey. Abbey de la Zouche Castle and market town and Lichfield Cathdral.Guest review byLinda AUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Burton on Trent looks to be a prosperous town with very good shopping opportunities at impressive shopping centers There are also excellent individual shops catering for a wide selection of shopping needs. The town is well served by excellent restaurants, may I particularly mention The Riverside Hotel in Branston for excellent food, drinks and ambience in a fantastic setting.Guest review byPhillipUnited Kingdom
