What a lovely little town.
What a lovely little town. I enjoyed good meals, a tour and tasting at Ben Nevis Distillery, being able to do laundry by Morrisons after completing the West Highland Way, the charming bookstore, and the West Highland Museum. A great stop.Guest review byMariaUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Mallaig is a small port town with an interesting history.
Mallaig is a small port town with an interesting history. The Mallaig Historical Centre is worth a visit to learn about the story and people behind the town. There are quite a few fabulous cafes and restaurants specialising in fresh fish and home baking. There is a lot of Harry Potter tourists due to the train and viaduct, but this does not distract too much from the enjoyment of a visit.Guest review byMoragUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The super helpful staff made us feel very welcome.
The super helpful staff made us feel very welcome. They had the knack of knowing when we needed help. we always felt the staff had time for us - as it should be, There is no lift and as 'older', to put it mildly, visitors, the climb to our room on the third floor was a bit like climbing Ben Nevis and the descent was even more difficult with our dodgy knees. We had chosen a sea view room and it turned out these are on the higher floors. The staff could not have been more helpful, short of carrying us up and down on their backs, and made sure we knew they would carry things up and down for us.Guest review byRobertaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The B and B is a short distance from the train station but CJ kindly picked us up. Dinner at the Arisaig pub was fabulous and a nice walk home after. We booked a taxi to Mallaig which was great and we caught the ferry to Knoydart and had lunch at the Old Forge…delicious, a lovely day out.Guest review byJanAustralia - 8.0
A few miles out of Fort William but with lovely Loch Views.
A few miles out of Fort William but with lovely Loch Views. Co op and post office in village handy for us. I think there is a bus service into Fort William but we were using our car- traffic heavy on some occasions. Good restaurants in Fort William but also worth going further afield to eat- we would recommend Loch Leven Hotel- excellent venison!Guest review byCarolineUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Very convenient for getting out to the highlands, a bit of a walk from Fort William town but walking is what you go there for, Ben Nevis is about a mile from Inverlochy and thats what counts,,, Try the Locky pub for good pub grub, massive platefuls and good wine, at reasonable prices,Guest review bySTEPHENUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Overall the house was fine but pity about state of property next door - quite offputting when first arriving. House relatively clean but could have been better. Rooms were a good size. Two adults felt the mattresses should be replaced. It would not take much TLC to lift the property - e.g. some painting, fixing gutter, improve back garden, fix bathroom tap, better cutlery, more informed Visitor pack. Overall, think it is best suited for climbers, walkers.Guest review byMacGregor - 10.0

We did wish that we could have stayed longer in Banavie and we would certainly come back to explore more of the area especially if visiting Ben Nevis. Neptune's staircase was an unexpected pleasure and it was so picturesque. We viewed this from 'The Moorings hotel' where we also had a lovely meal. Will definitely return.Guest review byLouise - 10.0

Catching the Jacobite train was the highlight of our trip although Fort William nestled under Ben Nevis was stunning! The loch cruise was informative and fun. All in all I wish we had stayed longer to have taken in some of the local hiking trails… next time!Guest review byScillyBirdUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Mallaig is an active, attractive, village with trains from Fort William and ferries out to the islands and other peninsulas. There are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants with hotels and B&Bs. The location is stunning with gorgeous views of the beasutiful coast and islands. Lots to do and a fun, friendly place to stay.Guest review byCantabrianUnited Kingdom
