FAQs about hotels in Scotland
A Rugged Jewel
With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!
The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.
The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.
The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.
As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

- From US$431.32 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,011 reviewsI had the most splendid and unforgettable stay at The Marine in North Berwick, an experience that was elevated to sheer perfection by the exemplary team working there. Every member of staff demonstrated the utmost care and professionalism, from the attentive room attendant, whose meticulous efforts ensured comfort at every turn, to the exceptionally skilled masseuse, whose expertise was unparalleled. The hotel itself is a stunning sanctuary, and my time there was nothing short of enchanting. North Berwick’s charm only added to the magic, and I am already looking forward to returning to this beautiful haven.Guest review byViolette Marie JaneBelgium

Aberdeen is a great city for getting around - there are lots of buses but it is also easy to walk to many of the attractions. We loved having the beach a short 20 minute walk away from the city centre. We also headed out to the lighthouse and were lucky anough to spot seals and dolphins. Duthie Park was a lovely relaxed spot and the winter gardens were beautiful and free! We travelled there by plane and it was easy to get into the city and back on the 727 bus. Aberdeen airport itself was a great little airport with a couple of places to eat and a handul of shops after security.Guest review bySamUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We were using Oban to access the Cal Mac ferry to Lismore, as my partner's dad is buried there. Everything went very smoothly and we had a nice sailing there and back. We enjoyed a couple of excellent meals at the Waterfront Sea Food Restaurant and ES-USK Seafood Restaurant. Enjoyed an evening of live music and a few drinks in The Oban Inn. Finished the trip off by visiting McCaig's Tower, with excellent views over the town, sea, and surrounding Islands.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0
