- From £152 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 432 reviewsAll the staff in Royal Sportsman Hotel were super nice but professional — offering suggestions on where to eat, what to do, how to go to attractions etc. They were clearly short-staffed — I saw many of them worked long hours (especially the F&B members) but yet they were cheery and helpful to me throughout my stay. The room was exceptional, cosy and clean. The location was only 5 minutes walk from Porthmadog train station.Guest review byYvonneSingapore

Lovely scenery and breath taking water falls.
Lovely scenery and breath taking water falls. Also such quaint little shops with enough small pubs for a bite to eat. Also close to Zipworld where you can fly through the clouds at high speed or go zip through the forest at speed.Guest review bykelliUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The main attraction is the castle, which is enormous and quite extraordinary. Needs a good couple of hours at least. The town is also interesting and colourful. Other attractions within relatively easy reach.Guest review byStewartUnited Kingdom - 10.0
A charming place to visit.
A charming place to visit. The views, scenery, local people, heritage railways, harbour, easy transport access and access to amenities, shops, restaurants and shops, walks along the cob, with views of Snowdon. The Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, has an excellent museum and local staff have an excellent knowledge of the history of the area, the slate mining and heritage railways. Great for families. The scenery along the routes on the Welsh Highland Railway is spectacular. (This is separate to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway). Suitable for families. The views along the cob, estuary and harbour are scenic and the views of Snowdon and surrounding region are very scenic. Portmeirion and the David Lloyd George Museum and his childhood home are easy to reach by car or public transport. There is a harbour museum and a number of other attractions within the region. The food at Marina La Cucina was freshly cooked and very good food. The restaurants get busy during the height of season, so we would recommend booking earlier in the day for a table.Guest review byRJUnited Kingdom - 6.0
A small, compact city that's a little run-down and in need...
A small, compact city that's a little run-down and in need of some government cash to bring more people in. We've never been in such a quiet city centre on a Saturday night; plenty of pubs, not enough people! So many Turkish barbers, so few decent restaurants...and no hotels! Plenty of take-out eateries, but that's not what tourists need! Lovely setting, Welsh government: you're missing out on tourism in Bangor, so splash the cash and glam it up...decent restaurants, a couple of hotels and a modern bar or two. The city should be very grateful for the Black Bull, JD Wetherspoon's, the only busy pub in town!Guest review byAnnetteUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely stay in Aberdyfi it was very busy over the Bank Holiday period as usual but that's what make the atmosphere. Recommend if you visit to book restaurants as they get full and be prepared if busy they run out of food quickly so may not have the full menu.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom - 4.0
Blaenau-Ffestiniog isn't a place I would choose to revisit.
Blaenau-Ffestiniog isn't a place I would choose to revisit. It's old and tired, situated beside a slate quarry. Most of the pubs have closed. It has two thriving shops, the COOP and Morrisons. The narrow roads, and linear layout were off putting for me, although the railway has always been an popular.Guest review byChrissyNew Zealand
