Stornoway is a compact town, with good local pubs and restaurants. Lews Castle and its grounds and museum is well worth a visit. I also went to a folk music concert at the An Lanntair theatre which was excellent (I also enjoyed a pre- show meal there in its Thai Cafe). The whole island of Lewis & Harris is stunning and magical.Guest review byFinlayUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It’s an ideal location to explore the island with a fascinating history. There’s a cafe, but I didn’t try it. It’s a place going through a change now, with a lot of young trees growing and some pretty gardens.Guest review byStephenUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Hen way b&b was lovely.
Hen way b&b was lovely. Joe was kind and thoughtful to our needs. He went out of his way to help Giving us detailed ideas on the best sights to visit. The cottage is small but the breakfasts were massive Full Scottish breakfast has 8 different food on the plate.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Very quiet place, nice long roads without traffic lights or speed cameras, most roads in good condition and easy to get about. Really improved my MPG as not many stops/starts! So much ancient history everywhere you look, Neothithic stone circle just up the road, ( there are many of these on the island. ) little families of deer everywhere, so drive carefully. Not too far to travel for the best beaches we've ever seen and if you love history as we do, amazing places to visit on the island. We self catered but there are little cafés around . The few shops there do sell virtually everything you may need.Guest review byRobson - 10.0

We loved our accommodation at Coleil Cottage and the area in general. It was a good base for travelling to the North or South of the island. Being next to the coast, it was a great area for whale and dolphin watching. There were many wild birds, including cuckoos and even rabbits and chickens in our garden.Guest review byGillUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Trish and Stewart were were hospitable hosts , an immaculately decorated and presented B&B , very much different from the 1960s when I toured with my parents. We would highly recommend 43 to coming guests.Guest review byColinUnited Kingdom - 8.0

This review is more about Lewis and Harris, Sandwick is a small suburb of Stornaway. It has an interesting memorial to HMS Iolaire. We spent 4 nights on the island. Although the weather was pretty awful, the island is lovely and we spent a fair bit of time touring Lewis and Harris. The Butt of Lewis is nice and there is a lovely walk to Eoropie bay with lovely sandy beach. We are interested in birds and found Red necked Phalorope, GND, Red throated Diver, Golden Eagle, Guillemots, Fulmars etc. Take the drive across Pentland Road it is lovely and good for birds. Sadly we didn't really have raptor weather (lots of rain). Stornaway is a bit limited - if you want to dine out book well ahead as there aren't many places and they fill up quickly. We enjoyed the Boatshed at the Royal Hotel for dinner. EVERYTHING closes on Sunday (including most of the petrol stations so beware).Guest review byPaul A. MooreUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Uig is full of lovely walks and beaches, and there is plenty of wildlife, we got views of white tailed eagles, and seals. Seatrek located nearby was fantastic, offering trips around the lagoon and out to the natural arches.Guest review byRogerUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Stunning part of the world.
Stunning part of the world. So much more to see than we had time for, a week would have been amazing! Beckett's do a fab breakfast, not many other places open before 9am. Some fab wee gift shops, especially enjoyed the Art Gallery, The Christian Bookshop, The Baltic Bookshop, Hebridean Tweed and Delights.Guest review byNickiUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Highly recommend Loch Eriscort Hotel for an evening meal. Food was absolutely delicious and very well presented. Great views over the loch, and if you’re lucky, you might spot a white tailed eagle (we were lucky enough to see it)Guest review byDebbyUnited Kingdom
