- From £100 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,342 reviewsThe Three Tuns hotel is a lovely Welsh Pub right beside the Chepstow Castle and the Eye River with England just across the birdge. Room 4 has its own entrance from the road and is delightful. It has a small kitchenette (microwave, jug & sink, but no fridge or stove), good heaters, good water pressure and and great hot water. We were permitted to keep our touring bikes in the room with us. The included full Welsh breakfast really got us going the next day. We would stay again.Guest review byScottAustralia

It's a sheer pleasure to talk to them, even for a shy person like me. The location of the hôtel allows us to breath some fresh air and have a walk in the forest few seconds away from it. The comfort in the apartment was perfect ! And what a beautiful view from the window ! The restaurant was excellent too. I lived in a dream throughout my trip thanks to all of them.Guest review byJulienFrance

Chepstow is "picture-book town" with cobble stoned, narrow winding roads, lined by beautiful terraced houses, each front-door in different colour. Countless flower-pedestals, flowerpots and troughs everywhere in public spaces - are all overwhelming "charm-overdrive" for the senses. The amassing people of Chepstow are genuinely welcoming, with their broadest smiles from the heart. IT WAS LIKE BEING LOST IN A CHILDREN'S STORY BOOK. We kept singing `Balamory....' everywhere we went in Chepstow. Colin’s ice-cream shop serves LOVE & HAPPINESS with their ice-cream. Chepstow Castle, Museum, the Old Wye Bridge, The Riverside Pub - with live music bouncing off the rock-face of the cliff across the river, The Boat Inn with their lovely food, St Mary's Church with its beautiful architecture of the past - They all come to gather, to create a land of magic. CHEPSTOW IS A DREAM YOU DON'T WANT TO WAKE UP FROM. Do go and experience this hidden world of charm.Guest review byDavid JosephCanada - 8.0

Ross is a small historic town in a lovely position with views over the countryside from the higher part and walks and places to eat and drink along the riverside..The shops in the town are rather limited with lots of charity shops but there is an excellent bookshop and some antique and gift shops. There are a number of pubs and restaurants with varying menus. There are buses to surrounding towns and villagesGuest review byjayneItaly - 10.0
Very pretty location on the river Wye. Lots to see and do.
Very pretty location on the river Wye. Lots to see and do. The viewpoint at Symonds Yat rock is brilliant and the cafe at the top does lovely ice cream. Enjoyed watersports with YOFI Paddlesports and would highly recommend them, we felt very safe and had great tutorial before setting out - went on a half day canoe trip with the family and also hired some paddleboards. Ye Olde Ferrie Inn was great for food and dog friendly. Would definitely be back to the area.Guest review byLindsey - 10.0

Coleford is a decent place a few bars restaurants and shops. We ate at Amici which was very good and we liked The Dog House pub. The walk from the cottage was an easy downhill walk but struggled coming back. We used Sovereign Taxis to go to The White Horse Staunton which we absolutely recommendGuest review byBeverleyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

it's a real town, not just a beautiful tourist magnet. we stayed downtown in old lodge above pub-loved how quirky it was. we rested and regrouped in monmouth. took walk in the fields across the river and around town. i enjoyed the bookstores and thrift stores. i was really impressed with the green walls of the public restrooms by the historic bridge which had gorgeous flowers which inspired me to paint.Guest review byAntenenUnited States - 10.0

Tintern is a lovely little place, very relaxing and peaceful. It is great for people who like to walk and you can either walk flat along the river Wye or go up into the hills and woods. There were a lot of cyclists about so clearly good for cycling. Tintern Abbey is lovely and worth a look around. The Devil's Pulpit is a steady uphill climb but well worth it on a nice day. It is a very small place and therefore, not much to do if you are staying for a few days, so you may want to travel to other places (the buses seemed very regular) but it is a nice place for a base.Guest review bySarahUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Fownhope and “The Greenman” was a very satisfactory place to stay with easy access and a short pleasant drive to the city centre. I was not able to take advantage of local amenities and activities as I was otherwise engaged attending a course. But I was aware of a number of sporting and leisure activities available within the immediate vicinity, and beautiful surroundings to explore by car or on foot There was a varied menu available although I am not aware whether a children’s menu was availableGuest review bykirstyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Whitchurch was a lovely village just off the main road.
Whitchurch was a lovely village just off the main road. It’s a great base to visit surroundings areas like Titern Abbey and Monmouth. The village has a fine dining restaurant called The Potting Shed, also a general store with a lovely coffee shop called Woods of Whitchurch. Within a ten minute walk there’s a hotel that serves food all day a butterfly zoo and a river Wye boat cruise. There’s a 20 minute country walk that takes you to the Ye old Ferrie Inn an enchanting place with great food and splendid views of the river Wye. Whitchurch has a lot to offer slight road noise but it’s certainly shouldn’t put any visitors off.Guest review byChristineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A lovely, very well equipped, cottage with its own safe outdoor space behind the cottage with a barbecue. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and tidy, with a wonderful range of food items left for us to enjoy. Thank youGuest review bySarahUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I lived in the Chepstow area for over 30 years and was visiting having moved away 7 years ago. It has changed in those years mainly because of the Severn Bridge tolls being removed and people moving in from the cities close by. There are more bars and restaurants there now to meet the needs of the increased population but the town itself feels in need of some TLC. It's still a great location for visiting the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley areas though and you can easily get the train to Gloucester, Cheltenham and Cardiff so is great as a base for visiting other places.Guest review byanne phillipsUnited Kingdom
