A perfect base for visiting the Okatse Canyon and Waterfall (the former in walking distance and the latter is walkable but about an 11 mile round trip). The Duke was very happy to show us around the chateau before we had dinner. The food was excellent, not expensive and there was a very good selection at both breakfast and dinner. We had initially only booked one night here, but ended up staying another and when our flight was cancelled, they offered us help and let us finish breakfast even after breakfast was supposed to have finished whilst we sorted things out. Our room had two independent bedrooms and a living area, we liked the layout. Even though the food choice wasn't overwhelming, we enjoyed the dishes, especially at the station where one of the employees was cooking daily dishes. We also had an opportunity to try the food in the restaurant on a first day, we also liked it and the prices were acceptable. SPA center was a nice addition, we've been visiting it daily and as the bus was stopping right at the entrance of both places, it was easy to reach. The massage at the SPA was good as well. The breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay, we got to try many Georgian foods. There was a huge variety and everything was delicious. They even made us some food for the road for our trip to Batumi. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds, and the view from the terrace is spectacular. Also, the host makes cognac and wine, I recommend trying both, they're great. They also helped us find a driver to Batumi for a really competitive price. We even had the option to upgrade our room for free when a bigger room became available. Great location close to the center and one of the city's main attractions - Bagrati. Hosts were lovely and you can try and also buy their delicious homemade wines and czacza. They are always there to give you advice from recommending restaurants to plan your trip. We bought one trip with them and it was tailored for us - the starting hour and places we wanted to visit. I was lucky to have the extra large bedroom where the sun flooded in every morning. The house is in a quiet, pleasant neighbourhood about 20 minutes walk to the centre of town. Place are “tired” and outdated. Beds are not comfortable. There’s no actual full bed but 2 single beds put together- very uncomfortable. The size of the room is fine though. The balcony is nice too, but there was no outside furniture (!) and not enough pillows and towels for all of us (although were delivered the next day upon request). The hotel staff are nice, trying their best to please, but the place itself is very basic. Parking is crowded. It's a strange place, full of fast food restaurants along the highway. Some people were very nice to us, the hotel staff was great, but we also got many suspicious looks, and a lady in a Daily shop refused to sell goods to us, presumably because she thought we were Russian. Only there for one night as a stop. It gave me vibes of being extremely dodgy, poor and in disrepair, even by Georgian standards. I did not feel safe out at night. This town is the local capital of spa centres. I recommend this impressive town to the lovers of old Stalin-era architecture and Georgian spa procedures. Plus, there are several abandoned spa resorts built in the 1950s.
