This was our first stop on our Guadeloupe vacation, and we received the warmest welcome from Christine, who was wonderful. The room was of great size, spotlessly clean, and has an authentic feel. The bed was massive and super comfy. We appreciated the coffee machine and fridge in the room. The breakfast is a continental offering and you certainly don't need more. We were offered fresh fruit, deliciously warm pastries and bread, accompanied by cheese, local jams, and either a cold meat or fish depending on the day. Breakfast is served with tasty fresh juice and of course tea and coffee. Each morning the breakfast was slightly different, so it didn't get boring. The hotel and bungalows are surrounded by lush green gardens that are very well kept. There is an idyllic infinity pool next to the main house, and a lovely lounge area for you to relax in. Due to its remote location the hotel is peaceful and quiet, and you can relax undisturbed. It is easily reachable by car, with plenty to see and do in the local area. We did hiking and canyoning in the waterfalls, following the recommendation from Christine. Christine and Michael are superb hosts. Christine is always more than happy to help with anything you need, and Michael is a skilled chef who prepares the delicious evening meals. We stayed at three different places in Guadeloupe and this was by far our favourite. Highly recommended!

Everything was perfect. Cedric (the owner) was so friendly and helped organise us diving & snorkeling, and the villa was absolutely amazing. It was sparkling clean, the bed was comfy, the kitchen had everything you could need, and the views were incredible - we couldn't fault a thing! This must be one of the best places to stay in Deshaies - my husband and I will definitely return!

We loved the place. The house was clean and spacious, you felt right in the forest sitting on the balcony. The host, Sergio is super responsive and welcoming. During our stay he made us really feel home and prepared us some nice drinks on some of the evenings. Also the location is super convenient to discover Basse Terre.

If you’re a fan of “Death in Paradise” then this place is a must see, it is where a lot of the series is filmed with iconic places like the police station and Catherine’s bar. It is a quaint, beautiful, small, unspoilt part of France. Deshaies has 7 or 8 independent restaurants/bars which seem to be open at different times, we ate in several of them, a small supermarket, a couple of gift shops and a corner shop. The beach is very small and sandy but you have other beaches very nearby like Grande Anse and Perle beach. The Botanical Gardens are also well worth a visit. From our accommodation it was a 10/12 minute walk into Deshaies down an extremely steep hill so obviously we had to go up this hill to get home, this walk would be difficult for those people who have walking difficulties, however, you can always drive down as their is a big car park which is very reasonable, 1 euro per hour.

    Calm, relaxed area.

Calm, relaxed area. Away from all of the pressure of the touristy places or the city. A nice place to unwind and, when desired, well situated to go exploring the west side of the island. You'll need a car and driving around is like playing Mario Kart with the steep and curvy roads. There are many things to see or do within 30 minutes drive or less. A chocolate museum with tastings, a coffee museum, hiking around the neighborhood or up to the volcano or various waterfalls, snorkeling and swimming at the local beaches or scuba diving at the Cousteau reserve and relaxing in the natural hotsprings, of course. And if you are into sunsets, this is a great place for you.

Baia Mahault was good for supermarkets, a lovely commercial centre, and plenty of patisseries available. Not to near to any beaches though. You definitely need a car. We went to the zoo, and the botanical gardens in Deshaie, definitely worth a visit. The best beaches are also in and around Deshaie.

It has the harbour to go to Les Saintes - super pretty with great restaurants; local town had limited evening restaurants but the accommodation allowed to make our own simple evening meals on site On Les Saintes you need to book golf buggy carts for a family, e-bikes etc to get around; also book your midday meal as soon as you arrive Ideally you need a hire car for longer trips - it is hillly

The town of Deshaies is a clean, quaint place with many restaurants, tourist shops and is a beautiful setting with a harbour. We visited the post office and local bakery which was excellent and always had a line up so we knew it was good. A little further up the road is the gorgeous Grande Anse beach. It's huge so it never seems crowded. This area is ideally situated for exploring further up the coast to visit other beaches like Clugny, La Perle and Les Amandiers which are picture perfect. We did take out at Cherry's Pizza which was superb wood fired pizza that was reasonably priced. Owner was super friendly. The restaurant patio out the back looked great for those who eat there.

    I could stay there forever.

I could stay there forever. You have the great sea life reserve Cousteau, hot baths (in the sea) in Bouillante, natural park just in 10 minutes by car. The disadvantage is that in the area there are not too many quality restaurants or shops. If you are looking for that you need to head in the direction of Grand Terre.

The position of the property was perfect for us. Close to Deshaies with the film locations of 'Death in paradise'. Deshaises is a quaint little Caribbean village with all the facilities needed for a quiet holiday away from the hustle and bustle. it has 2 small supermarkets an excellent bakery and lots of good restaurants and little bars. The setting is right on the beachfront which is a good beach for children and to watch the sunset. In our opinion it was the nicest village we experienced on Basse Terre, as it had a really good vibe and everyone was very friendly.
