Situated under 30 km from Athens in the centre of the Argosaronic Gulf, the beautiful island of Aegina remains unspoiled by mass tourism. Covered by pine trees, this charming island is a precious weekend destination for the Athenians.
Aegina Town is the main town of the island and has a unique selection of monuments and buildings, including the Archaeological Museum and imposing neoclassical buildings. Booking.com offers a selection of hotels, guest houses and apartments in the area.
The Temple of Aphaea, the Monastery of Agios Nectarios and the Cathedral of Aegina are some of the island’s main attractions. The medieval town of Paleohora is located near the Temple of Aphaea and Agia Marina. The archaeological site of Kolona is a prehistoric settlement that is the site of Apollo’s Temple.
The long sandy beach of Agia Marina is ideal for families with young kids, thanks to the shallow waters, sunbeds and restaurants. The picturesque beach of Souvala is popular for its therapeutic springs, while the beach of Marathonas is perfect for relaxation.
Cultivated since 1860, the pistachios of Aegina are well-known for their quality and flavour. Visit the colourful village of Mesargos and you will find a variety of traditional ceramics and potteries.

- From € 115 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 963 reviewsThe view from the hotel was beautiful and sea access was only a short walk down a shaded path. We would walk the 10 minutes into the town but the taxi ride was only 5 Euros. The breakfast was always good and plentiful. The pool area was also very clean and welcoming. The smell of the lemon and orange blossoms was also wonderful. I will also add that I experienced a health issue just at the end of our stay - my friend went to reception to see about getting a doctor and they were able to call one and he was by my bedside 30 minutes later. He made his diagnosis (vertigo) gave me two shots, ordered a prescription and had it delivered to the hotel. (He charged 50 euros for this invaluable service.) This happened on the day we were to check out and the hotel had no problem letting us stay in the room until I was more ready to travel. They were kind and proficient and probably saved my vacation.Guest review byFrancaCanada
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 474 reviewsThis hotel is just absolutely amazing. It's a cute and small family business and Giota and her family really make you feel like you are a guest in their house. Nothing is ever a problem, everyone is always super friendly and welcoming. The rooms are nice, the garden is lovely to sit in with an evening drink and the breakfast is really good (lovely cakes, a different one every day!). The pool is not located on the property but about a 100 meters away. Amazing pool, good music, nice staff and chill vibes. Really can't think of anything negative about this hotel, we had a fantastic stay!Guest review byLindseyNetherlands

A colorful and vibrant island, with beautiful shops and excellent restaurants. Like everywhere in Greece, the locals are friendly, and the atmosphere is wonderful. When booking the ferry, pay attention—there are two ports on the island: one is the main port, and the other is secondary. The main port brings you closer to the livelier, more touristy area. In any case, even if you arrive at the other port by mistake, you can easily take a taxi or a bus to the other side of the island.Guest review byLeviaIsrael - 8.0

In general south part of Aegina is much better than the northern part. Perdika is a really nice place to stay, close to Marathonas, Sarpa and Klima beach (by far go to Klima beach). Marathonas is good for families with young children as the sea is not deep. Probably some more dinning options (other than Perdika fishing port) would be good, but Aegina city center is really close, not more than 15 mins drive.Guest review byIoannis MalliosGreece - 10.0

Souvala is quieter than Aegina Town but that is not a bad thing. It is more laid back. It has some good tavernas, bars and restaurants. The souvlaki at Theophilos is to die for. With a Greek salad and a small Carafe of wine , two Souvlakis 17 Euros. That's great. There us a,small beach near the small harbour. There is also a another beach slightly out of the town which in high season has sunbeds and a bar. Just a short walk.. Souvala has a good Supermarket Bakery and some other little shops too. Lovely little place. And 15 mins by taxi to.Aegina,Town .Guest review byRosalindUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The location is quiet and relatively far away from the town, I mentioned relatively as the island is small so it doesn't take long to travel. So it's a good opportunity to stay in a quiet place with not much distance from the town. Still there are a few places to eat. The taxi will cost more to come there to take you to town, so instead of 18 euros you will pay 25.Guest review byIAKOVOSUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It was a quaint place with a nice vibe for walking around at night , especially near the sea at night . There are also some amazing historical sites to visit as-well . If you're looking for a peaceful place to relax and explore , thus is a great place.Guest review bysardar - 6.0

Public transport on the island is not great so personal transport is required. You can see all you need to in 24-48 hours. I’m glad I visited but I didn’t find anything to make me want to return. My travel companion is vegan and it was very difficult to find vegan options on menus, and none that contained vegan protein in the many restaurants in Aegina or Perdika which we also visited.Guest review byDeirdreIreland - 10.0
Beautiful area quiet, just want we needed.
Beautiful area quiet, just want we needed. All shop owners so friendly and polite too. Best taverna in the area would suggest 100% Kyriakakis right on the front, overlooking the sea, absolutely gorgeous. Food delicious, every dish we ordered better that the next. Wish we could eat more. Even had breakfast the next morning and all was perfect. The staff brilliant, polite and friendly.Guest review byEleftheriaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We had 3 days in Aegina, which was good for us. Sufficient time to see the whole island, however, if you are to a beach holiday you could easily spend a week, as the island and the town has much to offer, especially the beautiful water and the great restaurants. Plus- the people are very friendly and helpfulGuest review byJanAustralia - 10.0
