It has a great deal of the character of old Greece, with many modern twists. There are some interesting shops, selling local crafts and other worthwhile souvenirs. Restaurants and tavernas serve all the usual fayre, along with excellent fresh, local seafood. One treat was watching the sunset from the various bars whilst enjoying a sundowner. It is a photographer's paradise, as is the whole island. It is quite small, with a tiny beach so a couple of days would probably be long enough for most people. We hired a car for a day and visited the volcano before the tourist boats arrived and transferred people to buses for their tour. I would certainly recommend a car rather than a coach trip. The roads are quiet and well made.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Beautiful traditional village, with the small streets and passages. Ideal for families or people who would like a quiet, but yet interessting place. I find Emporios perfect spot to stay on the island, as it`s in between Nikia and Mandraki. It`s close to the beach village Paloi, as well as crater. There is even a bus free of charge few times a day to Nikia, Mandraki and Paloi (not to the crater though). We loved restaurant "Balcony" that was at the main square of the village (by the church) and we returned many times to eat during our short stay in Nisyros.Guest review byNevena - 10.0

Paloi is a small harbour and beach - seems very popular with people sailing the islands of the area. There is a small town beach which is well kept and then a further series of beaches aroudn the north east of the island. There are a couple of minimarkets, a bar (which was not open at night in September) and four tavernas. It is very peaceful and laid back and made a great base for our stay.Guest review bySusanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Where to begin from the time you come off the ferry time stops! This is the place to relax and enjoy life! There are no clocks on Nisyros ☺️☺️. You are here to slow down and enjoy the small island vibes and eat well and wind down!Guest review bykathleenUnited States - 10.0
If you are after peace and quiet. This is the place for you.
If you are after peace and quiet. This is the place for you. Hire a scooter and go and see the volcano before the day trippers. Once the day trippers go the place is so quiet. Little villages to visit and a beach called Palos ( I think that's how you spell it) a restaurant named Aphrodite along the front. Food was delicious. Try the pork shank. Definitely recommend the whole place. Stayed at 3 brothers hotel. Perfect.Guest review byJohnsonUnited Kingdom
