Much better than the pictures! It was a well managed, comfortable, and beautiful place! Nancy is a great manager and helpful in giving accurate information on places to visit. The view was great. It is very close to the port and this is a great convenience for those who have too much stuff. It is walking distance to main street, statue of Pythagoras, nearby beach. Our room has a balcony with an excellent view and we had pleasant time at the balcony. The personnel was very helpful, they carried our luggage to the upstairs and let us leave our stuff at the hotel till ferry time on the way back. The room, kitchen and the kitchen equipment were very clean.

The “Green Island”

Birthplace of the Greek mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras, Samos is an impressively green island with beautiful beaches, lush pine forests and traditional villages. Named after Pythagoras, the ancient fortified port of Pythagoreion was built on the ruins of the ancient city of Samos and is the birthplace of astronomer Aristarchus.     Great location. Lucky enough to have got a room at the front - with a most excellent view. It was breezy and light and there was a welcome fruit platter and small bottle of wine. Delightful Anna at the front desk was so kind and helpful, and she very professionally managed a rude and demanding Canadian woman (who wasn’t a guest but insisted she be shown a room). Th housekeeping and breakfast room staff are also excellent.

    Everything was perfect! Kokkari IS so lovely, the owner IS great, the studio gives you a view in paradise. There is a beach, 2minutes by walking, it IS THE paradise on earth. You have everything you need in the studio. Right in the centre with many restaurants, bars and everything ! I want to go back! Wonderful stay. The lady who cleans IS so lovely too. Thank you very much. Oooh and the bed are Amazing!

    Perfect location. Asked for a quiet room, which I got. Beach view. Close to beach and loved the Taj Mahal beach bar which was located straight across the street. Nice room, clean and nice balcony. Room was good size. Friendly staff. The breakfast was just ok, and very simple. But the beach was so close so we were only at the beach anyways. Bring swimming shoes for the beach.

    I stayed in Samos-Vathy because it was close to where I'd take the ferry to take me back home to Türkiye. Excellent and affordably food, friendly folks. I managed to rent a car from Hertz (a VW IQ3) and drove around a little bit. Be careful driving out there -- the roads can get narrow, and the scenery is too beautiful, so go slowly to enjoy it all.

    Kokkari is a very pretty old town . There are plenty of places to eat , tavernas, cafés , bars and to relax in. It is not a party / night club resort. It is peaceful with no drunken behaviour. We do not go in August so I do not know if young people go then. It tends to be older people when we go. Although I think the beach is beautiful I do not think it or the sea is suitable for young children. The stony beach is quite hard to walk on so is not suitable for people who have walking difficulties. There are also enough small supermarkets to get provisions and bread / cake shops.

    Lovely, quaint and calm (almost pristine)island not crammed with tourists. Karlovasi is surrounded by blue clear sea, green lush trees, plentiful taverns and nice friendly people. Many homes from 1800s have been restored and are charming. There is a CENTER of town full with stores and lounges/bars to relax.

    Small and peaceful village for those seeking for peace and relaxation. All the restaurants are near, you don't need the car unless you want to explore other villages and towns. Nice pebble beach with shallow water. Heraion was within walking distance from Ireon and is a must-see, if you are interested in history. From Heraion it wasn't too long way by foot to Pythagorion, about one hour walk (but after exploring Heraion and Pythagorion we came back to Ireon by taxi, which cost 13 euros). In Pythagorion you can find souvenirs and shops and it also has beautiful, authentic alleys. From Pythagorion you can take boat trips to other towns or Turkey. In Ireon there are just a few mini markets, a pharmacy etc. so if you want to buy clothes or souvenirs (other than postcards or something like that) you have to go to Pythagorion or somewhere else. Best restaurants: Akrogiali, Venetia and Cafe and Bar Idyli (the beach bar).

    In the south of Samos and in a windless location, there are always clean sea and beaches, cafes,you can get up early in the morning and go to Pithagorion, which is 5 minutes awayby car, and get delicious breakfasts and fresh fruit juices from the Thessaloniki pastry shop next to the Corner bar, and I recommend you POROS SEA SIDE CLUB to taste the delicious Greek cuisine while swimming in the sea, 10 minutes on foot.

    Very small yet charming and quiet.

    Very small yet charming and quiet. Car is necessary if you're planning to see other parts of the island as there is no public transport (only 4-5 times a day) and it is difficult to find a taxi. But the sea is beautiful, there are very good taverns (Alios) on the beach and there are amazing hiking routes very close to the village.

    The city is very nice. Affordable accommodation and rental car. We stayed 3 days. It is enough. If you have kids rent a car. Island is big. Best beach is for family is fsilli Amos. It is far away but worth it. Go to Yiannis Ozeris tavern in Vathy. Very friendly island. Prices are very reasonable.
