We had an amazing 2 night stay with Novita and her family. They were incredibly accommodating and the fresh caught fish dinner and her many sauces were amazing!! Would highly recommend to anyone staying in Bunaken, we wish we could have stayed longer!

Perfect experience. The hostess was warmhearted, the staffs always smiled. There was a nice pool, spacious common area with many nice place to relax, everything just comfortable and clean. Especially the food, which is almost the best food I have ever eaten during a island trip. The environment on the island was also very good, quite and peaceful. The reef just in front of the resort absolutely suitable for snorkeling.

Owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. They’re very attentive to ensure your stay is a memorable and pleasant one. The resort is right on the beach. So if you book snorkelling trips through the resort, you can easily access to the boat as it will be parked in front of the resort. I enjoyed the beautiful view from the dining area. You can watch sunset from the resort. The resort is also near the border between the Muslim and Christian kampung. There is nearby ATM which I never tried. There are also nearby local shophouses and dive shops. You can walk to the main jetty. The locals are friendly and warm so don’t forget to put up your smiley face and say Hi!. The resort serve delicious local food which you can order for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is generous so if you can’t finish, let the workers know that you want less servings so you won’t waste the food. Or you can also pack to bring along for snorkeling trips. Tips for travellers who are first time coming here: As it is on an island, the electricity works on generator. Standby a torch or a headlight in case the electricity turned off suddenly at night. From my experience, the electricity trip normally took about 5 to 15 minutes. I stayed in the lower floor. The lights in the room were dim and my eyesight was not so good. Thankfully I brought my headlight. Like most island resorts, there is no tv. So download your favourite movies beforehand so you can play it anytime. There is wifi but the speed is unpredictable.

Well, a week is certainly enough to get your fill of Bunaken itself, but as soon as you take your eyes out of the water, it is clear that the area has much more to offer with dramatic volcanic mountains lining the Manado Bay. We visited the Tunan waterfall and spent a day in Tangkoko National park, but I wished we could have also explored the highland towns, the Soputan and Lokon volcanoes and Lembeh strait. It is pretty impressive to have so many different experiences within 50 km from Manado.

Bunaken is a lovely island and central port of call for the surrounding Marine Reserve. It has a lively small village and a range of accommodation options. We are not divers but we understood that the diving was fantastic. We do enjoy snorkeling and were able to be taken by boat to snorkel in several varied locations. A highlight was “turtle city”, where we saw at least a dozen turtles on the edge of the reef.

A beautiful island with an underwater world like nowhere else in the world. wherever you put your head under water, you will find a beautiful coral reef. A very safe island, as a woman I was not afraid to go anywhere alone. The local people are very polite. Great food at great prices rent motorbikes and see the whole island. on Bunaken are NO cars restaurants don't have a big menu, but everything is always fresh. diving here doesn't cost much, you should definitely try it (even without a license) snorkeling is amazing. there is no ATM here, but some restaurants will give you cash for 5%. when paying by card in a restaurant they charge 3% (but not everywhere you could pay by card). in general stores you could only pay in cash.
