- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 54 reviewsVery relaxing to have a couple of nights at a lovely castle hotel. Check in was easy with friendly staff. The room was very nice, clean and the bed comfortable. It's a very quiet location and although the weather wasn't great, we walked around the outer edge of the island (takes about 1½ hours at a steady pace and very little traffic noise from the mainland). We ate in the restaurant the first evening and you couldn't fault the food although we did get the slight impression that the meal was slightly biased to quantity rather than quality. Very nice stay overallGuest review byMelvinUnited Kingdom

What an unexpected surprise.
What an unexpected surprise. Waterford packed a punch in terms of a lovely get away. Our favourite spots were around The Viking Triangle within the city and then Dunmore East for the sea, Mount Congreve- a gardener's delight, and Dungarvan, which is a charming harbour town. In terms of eating, I would highly recommend Mount Congreve for lunch and Bodega in Waterford City for dinner. We also checked out The Garden Mount Wolsley where you can delight in different plants and flowers from all over the world and have a fabulous lunch in their cafe. All in all, we were so impressed with Waterford. I would highly recommend staying in Granvilles Hotel too on Meagher Quay. It's four star with exceptional service and value.Guest review byDaraIreland - 10.0

This was so much better than staying 20 min up the road in Waterford. Lovely little village with a harbour and beautiful driving around this area. We came through Kilkenny, Waterford and the tiny picturesque old village of Inistioge. Inistioge was a gem, beautiful little coffee and photo stop on the way. Dungarvan had loads of good restaurants and cute pubs, however, in March things were shutting for a meal early, around 7.30pm. Go out early for dinner, or you will end up with takeaway. There are a few of these options. Good provision shopping here also with an Aldi and shopping centre.Guest review byNunn - 10.0

Moorings by the Sea is an exceptional choice for a family holiday! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our wonderful hostess, who kindly informed us in advance about upcoming roadworks that would limit access to the property. This thoughtful communication was greatly appreciated and made our arrival smooth and stress-free. The house itself is immaculate and well-maintained, with incredibly comfortable beds that ensured we had restful nights. The location is simply perfect—just a 20-minute walk to the vibrant Tramore strip and a mere 10 minutes to the town center. Plus, having a bus stop right outside the door made exploring Waterford city a breeze, with buses running every 30 minutes. Overall, I would give Moorings by the Sea a well-deserved 5-star rating! It’s an ideal spot for families looking to enjoy a relaxing and convenient getaway. Highly recommended!Guest review byElaineIreland - 10.0

We only spent one day in Ardmore itself as there is so much else to do close by..but Ardmore had a nice beach and playground and also has St Declans well which is nice to visit. We got food from the local shop and had a picnic on the beach so I can't comment on cafes/ restaurants. It had a little shop with a small selection of cheap toys which was just what the kids wanted so all good.Guest review byMartinaIreland - 10.0

Village was perfectly situated to visit Dungarvan and Waterford city. Very near to beautiful Stradbally Cove. Decent Chinese in the village, two shops which open late and three pubs which are only open on certain days. One cafe only open in the day and a restaurant which again only opens on certain days. Exceptionally friendly and welcoming locals.Guest review byNICHOLAUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The property is an excellent base for travellers.
The property is an excellent base for travellers. It's on the Copper Coast with good road links to the coast of Waterford County. The host was lovely. There was tea, coffee and sugar supplied as well as bottled sparkling and still water. A lovely touch too, was the box of Quality Street. We had an evening meal in the pub next door (The Engine Room) which was delicious and good value for money.Guest review byAngelaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A 200 year old property which is large and spacious and perfect for a family or group who don’t always want to be in each other’s ‘space’. Rooms to play, rest and eat . Two bathrooms with either shower or bath. Sleeping for 9. Baby gates at bottom and top of stairs give added confidence for child safety.Guest review byandreaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

There is so much to do and see in Waterford such as the coaster resorts of Dunmore and Tramore. The Copper coast is fascinating and easily reachable. The historical centre of the city is well worth a visit and various guided tours are available online and on site. Plenty of golf and fishing if thats your thing. Mountcongreve Estate and gardens are a must visit.Guest review byCrodaunIreland
