None of us had been here before.
None of us had been here before. We did the river tour to Clonmacnoise with Hidden Heartland tours, and despite the awful weather when we were there, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We ate at Thyme restaurant for one of the nights - fabulous. We now have some very good memories to cherish in the future, from the accommodation, tour and meal.Guest review byNoeletteIreland - 10.0

Great place to stay.We spent a night in one of the castle rooms and had a beautiful view of the lake. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was amazing! The whole stay was very relaxing. The staff were excellent too. We spent the morning before breakfast down at the pool and the jacuzi, sauna - was lovely and went for a walk around the lake. It was perfect getaway for us.Guest review byJoanneIreland - 10.0
We were there for a Christmas family gathering.
We were there for a Christmas family gathering. There was lots to do. Lough Key Forest Park being one of the main attractions. Also there are other swimming locations nearby. Boyle is a lovely town with lots to do both in the town and in the immediate area.Guest review byMaireadIreland - 8.0

Attractive town but limited facilities - no obvious public toilets and many of the store's ones were 'out of order', where available good - necessary if you have children or are getting on a bit. Beautiful park, fun all day pub eatery with a train inside, There is also a train service but not many trains - station facilities only available when a train was due. Diet very rich in meat.Guest review byPenelopeUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The hotel was a one night layover on the way back to Dublin.
The hotel was a one night layover on the way back to Dublin. The staff, the hotel decor and and food was excellent. The bed was very comfortable but the room lacked ventilation, no fan or air conditioning. Only one window opened to a noisy road. An overhead fan could have greatly improved this situation because the outside temperature was not hot.Guest review byLindaUnited States - 10.0
This place is a hidden gem.
This place is a hidden gem. The hosts took an old, aged but stately colonial and transformed her into an absolutely magnificent, luxurious home. It is right on Lake Arrow, there is a walk to the water and my favorite...a breathtaking walled garden and apple orchard. The home itself is créme de la créme - one of the very best accommodations I have stayed in. Well worth the stop. The Boyle Abbey and the Caves of Kesh are closeby and shouldn't be missed.Guest review byMary GraceUnited States - 10.0

Currently there is no restaurant but there are a couple of takeaways and several little Pubs for unwinding at the end of a long day. The ancient Cathedral of Elphin (in ruins) makes for an interesting delve into some long distant history . This is at the end of the main street.. Elphin is well located to visit Strokestown Park House, a 300 hundred year old Palladian Mansion which houses the Famine Museum and an amazing Walled GardenGuest review byRobinIreland - 10.0

Strokestown is a very quiet town and apart from Strokestown Park House and the National Famine Museum has little else for the average tourist. It is however ideally located just west of the Shannon in the Irish Midlands and is an excellent touring base. Its appeal is its quiet air and relaxed laid back nature with a couple of pleasant local pubs. There are a couple of nice eateries with a Chinese restaurant and the Percy French Hotel.Guest review byFrancisUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Waldo and his family were very welcoming and willing to help. Everything was great. Superb warm comfortable room. Spotlessly clean. I really enjoyed the shower experience, it was just amazing and exceptional. The family offered a full Irish breakfast and the value is exceptional. I recommend the property for families or group. We' ll be back.Guest review bykawayaSouth Africa - 10.0

We have family in Roscommon so we’ve been there a few time, it’s a lovely little town with such friendly people. Everything you would need is all within walking distance it’s a great place to go for a short break, we stayed at the Abbey hotel so there was no need to use the car to go into town. We can’t wait to go back next year.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom
