- From £181.88 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 216 reviewsWe were greeted immediately with umbrellas and a smiley guest executive when we arrived at the hotel car park. We had a nice welcome drink and they made sure to give us a good introduction of the hotel facilities before we headed to our room. The receptionists were always ready to greet us with our keys when we arrived back at the hotel from touring the area. They have a beautifully maintained onsen (indoor and outdoor) with super silky waters that feel great on the skin. The rooms are quite spacious as well and they provide us these beautifully printed cookies of Arita porcelain designs in the room as well as green tea leaves as part of their service. We appreciated the nice hygiene amenities in the bathroom. The hotel is on a pretty steep hill so it is hidden away fr the Main Street but there are many eateries and tea shops within walking distance. Bonus - they are partnered with another nearby onsen hotel and we could use their onsen facilities for free as guests. We had a great time staying there.Guest review byAbigailSingapore
- From £110.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 341 reviewsIt was an exceptional stay, and we thoroughly enjoyed the use of the space, combining both modern and traditional aesthetics. There were several little nooks that added surprise as we slowly discovered them at our own pace. We were delighted with the showcase of local ceramics and tea, and the welcome tea started us on our little tea journey, the start of a relaxing two days spent here. There was plenty of seating all around the ryokan, to relax, to wait, to medidate, to just stare into nature… A big thank you to all the staff we met, from the station pick up to the small conversations at breakfast. Looking forward to visit again at a different season to experience it anew.Guest review byRuthSingapore
- From £217.78 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.4Good - What previous guests thought, 329 reviewsThis hotel was fantastic and we could have stayed here for many days. The dinner and breakfast was delicious with options to suit everyone. The hotel also has all the facilities that you could hope for from an outdoor footspa to arcade games and karaoke rooms. The onsen was clean with a good outdoor area and the view from the special onsen was particularly nice. The hotel also provides good toilities so you feel very nice and fresh. The rooms are spacious and clean with big balconies hat provide a great view.Guest review byCarlottaJapan
- From £102.13 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 564 reviewsThe hotel location is very close to the bus stand (Marou onsen). About a 10-minute walk, Marou Falls can be seen. The Ebino Plateau can be reached from this bus stand, and the glimpse of the Kirishima Mountain range is clearly visible. There are only two buses running from Maruo Onsen to Ebino Kogen. 1st Bus from Maruo Onsen is 8:31, and the last bus from Ebino Kogen is 16:00.Guest review byTitliJapan
- From £52.93 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 510 reviewsModern and minimalist. Plenty of space to put your stuff on the desk as it's not cluttered with bulky tv. Great location, with donquijote just a block away. Several restaurants within walking distance. Best of all, the bathroom is the same level as the bedroom ie. No need to step up/down when going to the toilet or shower.Guest review bygeok kengMalaysia

Kagoshima in winter - Feb - can be very cold.
Kagoshima in winter - Feb - can be very cold. Food here is great and the Satsuma Japanese wonderful. Black is a lucky color in Kagoshima thus the my son's Rebnise basketball team wears black at home games. Taxis are always available at stations and it is not far from anywhere. A day trip to Ibuski's sand baths is recommended - on fine days. Plenty of public natural mineral water onsens are available. Shiroyama's has a fantastic view .The ferry ride and Rainbow Onsen on Sakurajima is great.Guest review byJohn CantorAustralia - 10.0

Beppu was one of the highlights of our trip. We flew in and out of Fukuoka and while its nothing compared to other major Japanese cities we have visited, Beppu provided us with really good onsens and very good Oita food which we truly miss til this day!Guest review byBTSingapore - 10.0

You can enjoy shopping a lot or nature scenery as well. Very recommended. We love Aso area a lot, mountains there are green like Macha and food/fruit are really delicious, for example: tomatoes or milk, pudding....etc.Guest review byFen ChinTaiwan - 6.0

It is a nice place just to do nothing but it is not that beautiful. The resort we stayed at had absolutely nothing near or around it and the shuttle bus service was not consistent or frequent. To go to the gorge took 4 hours by bus, train and bus and walking. I would probably choose another beautiful place or island as a preference now I know this.Guest review byFionaAustralia - 6.0
Not a great deal to do or see in Oita.
Not a great deal to do or see in Oita. The castle ruins holds some interest. A very friendly man in a temporary office in the car park helpfully explained more about the castle and it's moats. Could use Oita as a base for visiting Beppu if you can't get accommodation there By train it's only 280 yen and 12 minutes away.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Really great seaside town with a large American influence due to the military base in town. The food was great and the night scene lovely as well, though I wish I had more time to visit the Bio Park - will plan to go next time! Haus Ten Bosch was a really unique experience and I'm glad I went!Guest review byAnnaUnited States - 8.0

Morning walk along the waterway when there were not many tourists was peaceful and enjoyable. The are lots of small shops on the main street, but might be too crowded to enjoy. The shops close around 5pm. My favorite eating place was Pizzeria Kunugi no Oka; good food and good view of the Yufu city.Guest review byMukPThailand
