- From £194.08 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 91 reviewsSpaGreeness is a retreat. It is a place where you can totally relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surroundings. My family of 6 stayed in the cottage “Mori” and we were given an attached bedroom with a double bed next to the main living quarters. The cottage is clean and huge and is very comfortable for the 6 of us. There were 2 onsens at the basement of our room. Breakfast was delicious and the hotel staff were very attentive to our needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there!Guest review byAI WEESingapore
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 133 reviewsLovely spot with a very nice owner! They have two onsens that you can book and use for free, a ping pong table and a great outdoor space. I guess you need a car to get there. They didn't serve dinner but you can use the refridgerator and they sell some drinks, snacks and noodles. We felt very welcome and it was extremely clean. I wish we could have stayed longer.Guest review byJanetNorway

Beppu was one of the highlights of our trip.
Beppu was one of the highlights of our trip. We flew in and out of Fukuoka and while its nothing compared to other major Japanese cities we have visited, Beppu provided us with really good onsens and very good Oita food which we truly miss til this day!Guest review byBTSingapore - 6.0
Not a great deal to do or see in Oita.
Not a great deal to do or see in Oita. The castle ruins holds some interest. A very friendly man in a temporary office in the car park helpfully explained more about the castle and it's moats. Could use Oita as a base for visiting Beppu if you can't get accommodation there By train it's only 280 yen and 12 minutes away.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Morning walk along the waterway when there were not many tourists was peaceful and enjoyable. The are lots of small shops on the main street, but might be too crowded to enjoy. The shops close around 5pm. My favorite eating place was Pizzeria Kunugi no Oka; good food and good view of the Yufu city.Guest review byMukPThailand - 8.0

We visited in the off season, so not much was going on, although we knew that and it was all right. Onta Yaki Pottery Village was a terrific day trip, although we did have to take a long taxi ride to get there. We loved the friendly, humorous, laid-back style of the people in Hita - really lovely folks!Guest review byLeeUnited States - 8.0

The 7 hells was the reason we went to Beppu and they were interesting but I'm not 100% sure it was worth travelling specifically for. Better to have it as a day trip from Fukuoka. If you do go, don't go to the 'Crocodile' one, I'm no expert in Crocodile health, but those poor things really did not look in very good condition. That place should be shut down in my opinion.Guest review byVictoriaAustralia - 10.0

A fabulous place to chill and relax. Restaurants are great. Shopping is fun. You get to enjoy nature anywhere you go. But for drivers who are not used to narrow and winding roads, you need to be extra carefulGuest review byEricSingapore - 10.0
I loved this town and could easily live here.
I loved this town and could easily live here. I was lucky enough to catch Ukai (cormorant fishing on the Mikuma River while enjoying a dinner cruise). It has a laid-back vibe, with some excellent dining options close to the station. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to spend more time in this beautiful town.Guest review byThe Green AntAustralia - 10.0
When driving into Beppu, I figured it was just another town.
When driving into Beppu, I figured it was just another town. It was towards the end of 3 weeks driving around Kyushu and we were weary! While people come here for the Seven Hells, we found Beppu to be quite charming. Although quiet, we thought it had a lovely vibe and some busy restaurants to choose from in the evening. The hells are touristy and there are a couple I probably wouldn’t recommend but it’s what Beppu is known for. A lovely spot for a full day exploring, but probably not much more than that.Guest review byZoeAustralia - 8.0

We went to Yufuin and Beppu, Yufuin by the touristy train (book a month earlier and reserve your seats!), then we took the bus from Yufuin to Beppu and did the onsen tours on our own by bus. Not much to do in Beppu other than the onsens, perhaps go to other nearby places too.Guest review byElaineUnited Kingdom
