After a months trip in Korea, China and Japan we came to stay at this hidden diamond. This little Onsen town is one of Japan’s best and this hotel was hyper cool. Incredibly authentic and with amazing staff. We were helped by Kundo which did his very best and this gave us the single best experience of our 1 month family trip. The hotel has a fantastic Japanese spa on the top floor. Kubrick provided us with recommendations to where to eat, what to see and visit. We loved it! Thank you! You have our family great memories!

Everything. The cute and comfy yukata. The traditional Japanese style room had a nice retro vibe, with a traditional low table and sliding doors separating the main room from the small one with the river view. The public bath was spacious and clean. The lounge had a great variety of drinks and snacks.

Hotel located adjacent to Saga station with many shops and restaurants options. Hotel double storey parking is also adjacent so there is minimal walking with luggage. Check-in process was easy via touch-screen counter. Room is clean and well arranged. Spacious enough to fit 2 additional chairs and a small table. Bed is tall enough to stow luggage underneath. Eco-friendly refillable shampoo and soap pump-bottles instead of single use bottles. Wifi is fast and stable. There are 4 laundry and dryers located in the airy lobby area instead of some little room. Included buffet breakfast has hot cooked food. Overall a very well organised and located hotel. Would definitely stay again if visiting Saga.

Wow. This place features the most attentive and positive staff in Japan! They did all they could to attend to our needs, including preparing a completely unique meal for my partner to ensure he had the best dining experience possible for his culinary tastes. A member of staff who spoke fluent English was assigned to us, and she was always there ready to help out. The room itself was outstanding. The tatami room looked out onto a garden, with delicate mosses, ferns and stepping stones across a sweet little stream. All set against towering cypress trees. Everything was so beautiful. There was a fridge in the room, fresh ikebana display, large b beautiful bath and shower fed by onsen water. The most special thing about this hotel is it's onsen. The public bath is great, very large and with bright, natural light. However it's the onsen that is reserved for guests that steals the show (taki no yu). With the best view, coi carp dancing at the foot of waterfalls, pink flowering camelia framing a stone lantern, small shrubs and great lighting. The sauna is cypress wood, and you can smell it as soon as you get inside. The large view from the sauna is sublime. The temperature is set at a steady 55° and you can enter a plunge pool of cold water when you're done. You may even experience 'totonou', which is what the Japanese call the state of transcendence that comes from hot-cold therapy! Visit Taishoya and experience the beautiful, happy town of Ureshino. Eat yudofu with rice, saga beef and delicious fish. You won't be disappointed!

I was hesitant to book this resort initially as there was only 1 recent review when I booked, and the older reviews of the original hotel were not that good. However, I decided to take a chance and I'm so glad I did!!! The resort is newly renovated and all the furnishings and decor are all very clean and new. The resort location was ideal as I wanted to be located near Mifuneyama Rakuen so I could go see the Autumn colours at night (only 6 min drive away). The facilities on the resort were fantastic.... the spa pool required swimsuits which the resort thoughtfully prepared for each guest, all packed in individual tote bags. The hot spring pool was a a bit small, but the resort was not packed when we stayed, so there were no other people around when we used the spa pool or hot spring. But what impressed me the most has to be the amazing service we received. Most of the staff did not speak English or could only speak minimal English, but they always tried their best to understand our needs, and made us feel so comfortable. The staff's dedication and service quality are top-notch. The food was so amazing as well (The sukiyaki dinner and Japanese breakfast included in the stay were so good!)

The staff could not have been more helpful. I had a medical issue and a lady at reception arranged help for me. The hotel is only about an 8 minute walk from Imari Station where the Fukuoka Showa Bus also arrives and departs. There is a lovely Izakaya (pub) right next to the hotel car park and an Aeon supermarket nearby. The best thing is their buffet breakfast. A large choice of freshly prepared food with menu specials that change daily. There is a coffee and soft drink bar in the lobby. You can catch a train on the Matsuura Railway line from Imari to Arita but there is only one per hour. It is only a 15 minute bus ride to the pottery village of Okawachiyama but use the timetable outside Imari Station to plan your trip. Only ¥200 each way.

It was an exceptional stay, and we thoroughly enjoyed the use of the space, combining both modern and traditional aesthetics. There were several little nooks that added surprise as we slowly discovered them at our own pace. We were delighted with the showcase of local ceramics and tea, and the welcome tea started us on our little tea journey, the start of a relaxing two days spent here. There was plenty of seating all around the ryokan, to relax, to wait, to medidate, to just stare into nature… A big thank you to all the staff we met, from the station pick up to the small conversations at breakfast. Looking forward to visit again at a different season to experience it anew.

The kaiseki dinner is very nice. Breakfast spread was good and varied. The onsen facilities in ryokan is very good, especially the open air bath area. The sand bath option is unusual, and the foot bath avail is nice too. Even as the staff mostly cannot speak english well, they were very helpful and assisted to their best efforts. The shop in lobby level is interesting with things to purchase.

I'd strongly recommend taking the time to ensure that the accommodation you're booking is close enough to any specific areas you wish to visit. Saga itself, is simply a township without too many attractions other than a museum, a castle and a couple of short, pretty walks. If you want to see something further afield, such as Arita or Imari (located in the Saga region), be prepared for quite a bit of travel. Even places to stay near these areas are several kilometers away.

Ureshino is famous for the green tea and the onsen. The Ureshino Tea Exchange musuem is 100% worth a visit and don't forget to drink a tea in the cafe! It is amazing quality and very cheap (300 yen for 1 tea) Then I would also recommend Fuji restaurant, they make great Okonomiyake, Yakisoba and many more dishes! Staff is amazing! If you have a car drive up to the mountain to visit the tea fields, 100 % worth it!

I did an overnight trip to Takeo, and it was great - the Takeo shrine and Public library are right next to each other, and both are worth the visit. I also went to an onsen the following morning and that was a great experience. The town seems very easily walkable, and is a great stop between Fukuoka and Nagasaki.

One of the most comfortable places we have stayed in, in a very long time. Spotlessly clean. Fresh flowers, snacks on arrival. Clean, beyond comparison. This is not a place to stay if you want city life. It is a super quiet village. The observatory behind the house is one of the best cherry blossom destinations we have been to. We spent 2 hours there and we were the only people on the mountain. Spectacular.

We loved being able to visit some of the kilns and see how the porcelain is made. As well as showrooms, some makers had museums showing older pieces of their work. The Kyushu Ceramic Museum had fabulous pieces on display and good explanations on the processes involved. The locals were very friendly and helpful and pleased to have visitors interested in their porcelain.

We were there just to see the sakura. It is worth a trip to Japan just to see the night viewing of sakura at Mifuneyama Rakuen. It was magic. We also went to Takeo Shrine. Massage, etc facilities on site. 2 - Town is cute with lots of ceramics everywhere for great instagram moments. 3 - MUST go up to the Okawachiyama pottery village - take the back roads, as they are beautiful. 15 minute or less drive, 1 hour bike ride or so.
