- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 2,037 reviewsLoved everything! Staff are absolutely wonderful, this is one of the best places I have stayed. Ofcourse the view from the balcony in the room is amazing, with space to sit and relax. The public onsen and private rooftop onsen are wonderful watching the sunset with a view to Fuji. Don’t miss out on breakfast! Pick up from the train station and shuttle to town also worked really smoothly, just ask the helpful staff as we were able to arrive early to drop our bags off. The hotel lounge area is also very interesting and enjoyable, lots of art, books, relaxing and comfortable. Will always remember our stay here and recommend. Thankyou!Guest review byChristinaNew Zealand
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 457 reviewsVery nice house, which can accommodate up to 8 people, really nice inner yard where you can grill something and look around, if it’s a clear day, then you can see mount Fuji from the house or yard 🙂 Traditional japanese floor and beds, there’s a bath with big window, you can see Mt. Fuji from there too 🙂 Host speaks English pretty well, very nice person and also gave us a ride next day to the station, which shortened our trip 🙂Guest review byDovileLithuania
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 194 reviewsFufu Kawaguchiko is simply outstanding! The staff are excellent, amiable and extremely helpful. The cuisine is topnotch; we believe Chef IDE should receive at least 2 Michelin stars! Having a private outdoor onsen was the cherry on top—-such a wonderful place!Guest review byAnnetteGuam

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.5Good - What previous guests thought, 40 reviewsFor a single room it was fairly spacious compared to other single rooms I've had before. The whole bathroom is higher which is a little weird but not a problem, maybe if you're elderly this would be an issue, otherwise the room was fine, comfy bed.Guest review byKellyAustralia

Ropeway and boat trip was good.
Ropeway and boat trip was good. We hired bikes from Jays as they shut later than the others and went to the Chureito Pagoda, Fujisan World Heritage Center, and then cycled round the lake stopping at Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum, Oishi Park and Yamanashi Gem Museum.Guest review byBerthaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I recommend staying.
I recommend staying. I wrote a long review separately which I hope is useful; please refer to that. In addition, for young children, you can visit the sheep shed where they keep the sheep to see sheep up close, wander down and the up the hill behind reception, and get the best tasting soft serve ever from the restaurant!Guest review byDavinosJapan - 10.0

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt. Fuji never showed her face during our stay for the icon lake photos but it didn’t take away from the magic. The little town just 20 mins away by bus from our domes was super cute, filled with history, culture, and more shopping.Guest review byElizabethUnited States - 8.0

We really enjoyed the place, but it was a bit dead midweek. There were some tourists, but not very many. It was good to have a car to explore. We went to -Kofu Castle Ruins (peak bloom time!) -Yamanashi Fruit Park -Maglev Exhibition Center We ate at -TREE Anthony's Kitchen (AMAZING Greek Food) -Kaosen Thai (eh)Guest review byPena - 10.0

Hokuto is a bit of an off-the-beaten-track destination, perfect for a weekend or even 3 or four days. Surrounded by beautiful nature, it's a great place for hikers - since it's located at the base of the Yatsugatake mountain range. The adventurers can go explore the hiking trails and waterfalls, but also there are charming cafes, art galleries and international cuisine restaurants splattered in the area. I would avoid going there by car on a Saturday morning, because the Chuo Express Road gets packed and it may take up to six hours to get there from Tokyo (the normal is 2 hours). So if you can, go on a weekday.Guest review byVillageOneJapan - 8.0

Automatic check-in & check-out process, good point for those who love automation. There is always staff supporting this step. Breakfast is disappointing, has limited options, no fresh fruits. Close to the station and good noise isolation.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Fujikawaguchiko is nice and quiet place, but little bit boring. No nightlife, or great restaurants. Walking trails and roads overgroving with weeds. The town has lake, but no place to swim. City maitenance is poor. Connections with other places difficult. Public transport nonexistant. No hiking possibilities in the Japan Alps.Guest review byAnonymousEstonia - 10.0

We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect. Yamanakako is quieter and less touristy, which is exactly what we wanted. However, the bus schedule limits how many places you can go cuz they come every 1 hrGuest review byLiCanada - 10.0

If you are looking to escape from tourist areas and visit the country side of Japan? Then this place is it! There is hot springs everywhere and it is near Mt Fuji so tons of mountains around. Incredibly serene and quieter than areas like Hakone. ( Hakone is VERY beautiful but tons of tourist)Guest review byElianaUnited States
