Hemantha, the owner and manager of hotel and his son Dulana have built a truly beautiful pearl in the middle of the rainforest. With excellent English, they took care of us and fulfilled all our wishes. This is our fifth time in Sri Lanka, but we visited Kitulgala for the first time during our travels and I can recommend this area to everyone to visit. Waterfalls in the middle of the forest and rafting on the river are among the great experiences that this hotel offers you at a very fair price. And then you can let yourself be pampered in the comfort of the hotel with great food and enjoy a bath in the beautiful natural pool or right in the small clean river that flows around the hotel. Lovely serene grounds with some very new individuals villas - some with a pool and some without. Super clean, nice staff and great location if you drive your own Tuktuk or are happy to book one for transport to Pinnawala (10 mins drive away).

My sister and I loved our stay at Aramya Hotel—everything was simply perfect! The staff was beyond kind, always ready to assist and help. We arranged activities like jungle walks, abseiling and rafting through the hotel, and each experience was incredible. Our room was sparkling clean and spacious, with a stunning river view and a lovely balcony. The hotel itself is amazing, featuring a large pool, a beautiful garden, and stunning interior design. We enjoyed all our meals at the property, which offered delicious vegan options—something we truly appreciated. We really appreciated that the hotel provides refillable glass jars in the rooms instead of promoting single-use plastic bottles. It’s a shame we only stayed for two nights; we would definitely love to come back!

The experience of waking up and watching elephants is amazing. This is my second time here, I was here in 2018 and since the hotel has expanded and gotten a pool. Andrew the transport guy was really helpful as was all the staff in the hotel. We travelled with a 3 and half month old and they were great with everything. Thanks for a lovely stay. Breakfast was lovely

    Couldn't recommend enough. This is a wonderful Home Stay with the most welcoming family. We felt right at home. We were welcomed with tea and the onsite bar was a lovely touch. The host was so helpful and would be a great guide for any tourist experiences. The chalet had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We had breakfast dinner and part took in a cooking class.     We had an amazing time at Hotel Pinnalanda, the staff is amazing, very kind and welcoming, always here to help if we need. The experience with the elephants was also great, it felt as if they were in their natural habitat. I definitely recommend going there if you want an authentic experience of Sri Lanka. 😁

    Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Comfortable stay in this hotel. View of elephants ,river and surrounding countryside was excellent- especially from dining hall and verandah of some rooms facing the river. Highly recommend.

    The town is just a town with shops, supermarket etc.

    The town is just a town with shops, supermarket etc. For food, my tour guide Prashan brought me to Upcountry Restaurant which is a nice place with a beautiful scenery. :) Go for the attractions like Bible Rock, Saradiel Hill etc. They are nice.

    I love the concept behind the cave.

    I love the concept behind the cave. The cave and the eco-tourism concept should be further developed, as it has the potential to greatly benefit Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. I believe Yatiyanthota has great potential to develop Sri Lanka’s eco-tourism. With its rich natural beauty, it can attract more visitors. However, we need to work hard to create more attractions and make this destination a unique tourist magnet.

    Pinnawala basically has 4 main attractions therefore a maximum of 2 days is sufficient. The main attraction is the elephant orphanage. Related to that is the elephant bathing at the nearby river which is fascinating. Remember the ticket you purchase for the orphanage is required for the bathing so do both in the same day as the tickets technically only valid for the day (we did not know this so we went to the orphanage in the evening and went to see the bathing the next day.. however the kind ticket officers let us go). Then there is a mini zoo where animals roam in more space than usual. You can feed animals here which could be fascinating (for a small fee). Then there is a traditional village called Iparini Gama where you can experience live style of a traditional sri lankan village.

    Spectacular area to get up and close with elephants.

    Spectacular area to get up and close with elephants. Unique experience with elephants walking thru the village for their daily bathing. General accommodation facilities were good. Bars and eateries also of reasonable standard. We stayed at Grand Royal Pinnalanda and found this quite satisfactory in services and value.
