I had the pleasure of staying at Farm Villa Resort in Katharagama for two nights, and it was a wonderful and memorable experience from start to finish! 🌿 From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and heartfelt. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything. Special mention to the front office team – truly a gem in hospitality! The room was spacious, the bathroom was very big, and the overall comfort . The clean and inviting swimming pool was perfect for cooling off and relaxing in the serene atmosphere. What makes Farm Villa Resort truly special is its beautiful location surrounded by nature. The resort is set amidst lush paddy fields, and there's a charming little lake flowing through the property, creating a peaceful, scenic environment ideal for rest and reflection. I enjoyed walking through the paddy fields, listening to the birds in the mornings, and even got to pick fresh fruits from the garden! 🍌🌾 It's also conveniently located – just a short walk to the sacred Kirivehera and Katharagama Dewalaya, making it perfect for both pilgrims and nature lovers.One of the biggest highlights was the full-day Yala Safari arranged by the hotel – an absolutely amazing adventure! 🐘🦁 We saw incredible wildlife, and everything was perfectly organized with a knowledgeable guide.The food was another standout. The traditional Sri Lankan dinner was flavorful and authentic, clearly made with care and love. The breakfast offered plenty of variety, and every meal was beautifully presented. The dining team was attentive and courteous, adding to the overall great experience.In summary, Farm Villa Resort offers far more than just a place to stay – it's a place to connect with nature, enjoy delicious food, and experience genuine Sri Lankan hospitality. It's one of the best villas i have stayed at the staff was so friendly and they helped us and guided us through a lot.. the place is wonderful clean rooms and comfortable beds washrooms were also clean.. the balcony had a beautiful view couldn't ask for me definitely recommends this place it's wonderful

Very nice and welcoming place to stay. Very friendly, kind, supportive and caring staff. So much value for the money that we spent. We enjoyed Large bedroom with 2 large and comfortable beds with airconditioning facilities, attached bathroom with hot water facilities together with common kitchen, dining and living areas that gave us a wonderful and memorable country experience. I felt home in this inviting resort and I appreciate the loving staff who took care of us throughout our stay. Our experience is great in this precious resort.

The rustic charm and quirkiness of the treehouse exceeded expectations. The staff we’re fantastic and took us on a private safari in Udawalawe (about 25 minutes away) where we got so close to the elephants. They also arranged a guided canoe trip on the nearby lake - sadly no bathing elephants this time but plenty of other wildlife to see. The evening meal we had there was perhaps the best curry I have ever eaten and all of this at exceptionally good prices. We spoke to several people who went to Yala and spent far more, saw far less and didn’t seem get anywhere near the experience we did.

We are so thankful for making us feel at home. we were able to relax and truly we ate like nothing the food was so comforting, their chef is an asset to the hotel.     Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it...

    Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

    Nice place surrounded by beautiful paddy filled, adjacent river was another level experience since it was a perfect place to chill out after incredible tour of elephants and birds watching. We got easy access to one of the Yala gates. Thank for the Sri Lankan authentic breakfast, even host didn't charge for that. All good, highly recommended

    The small accommodation is set a nature reserve park, with good mountainous and forestry view. The surrounding area is good for fresh air and for a long walk in a rugged forest area.Make sure wear a suitable hiking shoes.

    We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

    There is location and Tulip villa hambegamuwa wonderful place there is manager and staff very friendly Breckfast dinner lunch super food like a village good exprince most i like there some place river and lake boart safari looking the eliphant bird crocodile.next time also im coming to the Tulip Villa hambegamuwa.

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari.

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

    Buttala is a beautiful little city close to the northern...

    Buttala is a beautiful little city close to the northern part of Yala National Park. If you pass by (maybe on your way to/from the east coast), stop here and enjoy a couple of nights in the local homestays (we can fully recommend Yala Avian Eye Safari!!). Safaris from here are calm and you can enjoy the northern part without hundreds of other jeeps.

    Even though it is a religious hub that connects all the religions to a one place, I enjoyed the YALA Safari very much. Spotted all most all the animals from water birds to hundreds of peacocks, from mongoose to leopard and elephants.
