- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 97 reviewsEverything at Leopard Trails was absolutely perfect. Rooms (lakeside) Elegantly decorated, classic without feeling outdated. All facilitates were provided, including incredible aircon! Felt super luxe! Location Close to the entrance of Yala. we were first there for the morning safari. The People So attentive, went above and beyond to make the stay special. Great food. Safari we went out twice, the morning and evening. If we could have our time again, we would have done three in total. The team were very respectful of the animals, never getting too close and taking great pride in seeing them in their natural habitat. A HUGE shoutout to our tour guide Ashan who made our experience one that we will never forget. He is incredibly knowledgable, super passionate which made us even more excited, as well as knowing a lot about the bigger creatures he took much care and joy in the smaller ones too (side note, insane bird knowledge!). I even got a little photography tutorial, which meant that I could photograph the beautiful creatures with my new found skills. Would 100% recommend booking your stay here.Guest review byAnnaUnited Kingdom
- From £912.27 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 246 reviewsit was an incredible experience from start to finish, with an amazing staff team that made it the brilliant experience it was; they make a real difference. The room and facilities are gorgeous, with a lot of attention to detail to all aspects of accommodation, dining area and safari game drives. We were always well looked after in terms of food and drink, you even have a tasty snack box for the safari drive! The game drive is professionally delivered by a great team who are knowledgeable and familiar with the park; with their experience and some luck of course, we saw leopards on both drives we were entitled to with our stay! The dining experience was top, with a great menu for both food and drinks. We even had a beach side evening meal that was spectacular. Overall we cannot recommend more, and are highly interested in returning and visiting their other 2 establishments in Sri Lanka.Guest review byLiamSpain
- From £114.73 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.2Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 30 reviewsWe stayed in this hotel for 2 days in October 2023. The hotel is located in the Yala Nature Reserve on the ocean. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel staff. The general manager of Colonel proved to be an amazing person. He gave us a real celebration in honor of our wedding anniversary. It was funny and unforgettable. The hotel itself is not new, but it has everything you need. The rooms are large and colorful. All with ocean views, comfortable enough. Many thanks to the staff of the entire hotel for their hospitality and attention to our people.Guest review byandreiRussia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 619 reviewsFront desk staff is very friendly. Great restaurant too. I enjoyed the buffet there at night. And the service we got was excellent specially from Nimalsiri. But they are all very polite and friendly. And the view I got from the hotel room was very beautiful. You see thee whole lake from there.I would recommend Ekco Tissa to anyone who wants to stay in Tissa . From there it's very close to go to Yala too. I would like to thank the hotel staff for making our stay memorable.Guest review byFeliciaAustralia

Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!Guest review byBuddhikaSri Lanka - 6.0

Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.Guest review byumeshSri Lanka - 10.0
It definitely is an experience worth trying.
It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appearGuest review byImranSaudi Arabia - 10.0

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.Guest review byLalitha WeeraratnaUnited Arab Emirates - 10.0

The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .Guest review byShasaUnited Kingdom - 6.0

I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.Guest review byKrisIndia - 6.0

too many jeeps roaming around. 50% of the time we were searching for animals. at some occasions long long jams of jeeps trying to observe leopards and bears the park is beutiful but * jeeps number should be limited * we didnt see a leopard, saw elephants only once, saw a bear briefly only once - for 6 hours in the park we were disappointedGuest review bybenIsrael - 10.0

We were extremely satisfied with the hotel and its beautiful surroundings. Everything exceeded our expectations. We took lots of photos & are sharing them with friends. The restaurants,Roof bar,Spa's and the pool side and pool is world class with out doubt! The service was outstanding, and that is something that can really make or break a vacation. Congratulations to the Super Proactive General Manager Mr Krishanta Damunupola and his team members to include Mr Seeman and Miss Sandani(Intern) for being so accommodating at all times with oodles of dedication. We also especially liked the super-comfy room with the balcony, bed linens which were very high quality, and felt so good to slip into each night. Thanks so much for a lovely visit. We'll be singing your praises for a long time. Thanks!Guest review byYohanUnited Kingdom
