FAQs about hotels on Gozo
Shaped by Sea and Settler
On peaceful Gozo, red-domed churches pop up behind cactus hedges and rolling countryside gives way to impressive coastlines. The 2nd largest Maltese island is a short ferry ride from Malta, and between them is little Comino, whose beautiful Blue Lagoon is popular for swimming.
The ferry docks in the small Mgarr port, overlooking brightly painted Maltese fishing boats. Xewkija is the largest town and has the largest church, but Victoria (or Rabat) is the capital. Its walled citadel offers fabulous views across the island towards distant Malta.
Set around a sheltered bay, Marsalforn has the most Gozo hotels, while Xlendi on the opposite side of the island is in a cleft between 2 cliffs which offers beautiful views of the setting sun. At neighbouring Sannat, cliffs plunge spectacularly into the sea, but the most impressive rock formation is the Azure Window on the coast below Gharb and San Lawrenz, home to one of the 5-star hotels in Gozo.
The island also has a rich history - the Ggantija Temples in Xaghra are remains of its Neolithic period. A village dating to Arabic times is Ghasri, the island’s smallest and one of the closest to the popular Gozo diving spot – Wied il-Ghasri.
Booking.com has a good range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Gozo in each of these characteristic places.

- From £133.39 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,108 reviewsGreat hotel in the centre or Xlendi with close proximity to bus station, swimming spots, walking trails, restaurants and mini mart. The staff were friendly and allowed us to store our luggage for free prior to check in. Room was comfortable and spacious with daily room service, good A/C, good wifi, hot water, bath, balcony, fridge and coffee/tea facilities. The bed was comfortable, bedding was clean and towels could be changed daily if needed. The room is a bit dated but fits with the area and adds to the authenticity of the property. Restaurant downstairs was reasonable with 10% discount for hotel guests. Check out time of 1200 was very convenient and appreciated. Xlendi was a beautiful little village and definitely the place to stay in Gozo for relaxation but with easy access to the rest of the island by bus which leaves every hour.Guest review byKatelynAustralia
- From £238.38 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,047 reviewsThe property is overall absolutely unique and lovely set into the surrounding with spectacular view from the tacent cliffs. With a bit of renovation this hotel could easily be one of the top destinations in the Mediterranean. The service is excellent and much better than in usual five star hotels. They are more more friendly and welcoming than I am used to from other five star hotel staff. We would not award 10 if it was not for the service. Nemanja, Dejan, Nikola, Dragomir and many others were extremely welcoming.Guest review bymaximilianGermany

He’s so friendly and did his utmost best to make sure we were well looked after. Can’t meet a better guy, told us a lot about Gozo and Malta and where to go, tips & advice the whole lot. Really down to earth too. Wish him the best, one of the best receptionist I’ve ever met if not the bestGuest review byDenzilIreland

There is extensive building & rebuilding work being carried on in the town and local area which disrupted the traffic at times. Apart from that it is a delightful town with good transport links to other parts of Gozo and to Malta. There are many and varied restaurants in town and we enjoyed trying a different one every night! The apartment had access to a pool which we found preferable to the beach but the children liked the beach too. We took a boat day trip around Gozo and Comino which we would recommend. It included swimming at the Blue Lagoon and a delicious buffet lunch.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Great little town! Quiet, peaceful, friendly locals. Good restaurants, accessible markets, quick Bolt rides, beautiful rural area with lots if history and culture. About a ten minute drive to Victoria and seaport, and beaches.Guest review byS - 10.0

Xlendi is a very pretty cove, which has an amazing impact as soon as you see it. There is a shallow end perfect for young children. The bars and restaurants are literally on the sea front so you can sit and have a drink and watch the family in the water. Although there is not much sand at the front the easy access ladders from the rocks at the side more than make up for that. Because of the rocks it is brilliant for snorkeling. It felt very safe and well cordoned off from leisure boats. There are also several water activities on offer from here.Guest review byRobertsUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Victoria is a beautiful town with much to explore.
Victoria is a beautiful town with much to explore. We loved exploring the winding streets with stunning architecture. Good choice of shops, bars and restaurants; we were amazed at the very good prices for food and drink. It's a great base from which to explore the island. I would say a car is essential.Guest review byMichalaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

If you want a sleepy town full of character and away from the bustle - but within striking distance of the best of Gozo - then Gharb might be just the place. There’s great place to eat in the shadow of the church and another very good and reasonably priced restaurant just down from the square.Guest review byJOHNUnited Kingdom - 8.0
4 days in Gozo.
4 days in Gozo. One evening we took the hotel bus to San Lawrenz for a Sunday evening fiesta. One afternoon we took the bus to Victoria and watched the sunset from the Citadel. Another day we hired a car from Avis down the road and enjoyed stopping at the salt pans, at some great snorkel spots, visited Ta’Pina church, had lunch at Xlendi and then sunset spots at opposite end of island. Final day we took the ferry to Comino and swam in the pretty (but busy) Blue lagoon. Swam across to the mini Comino and through some caves which was fun. Then returned in the afternoon to spend more time by the hotel pool.Guest review byRupaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Qala is a quite village with vibrant nights in summer.
Qala is a quite village with vibrant nights in summer. There are some local bars and restaurants which are open daily during the day and night. It's just up the road from the Mgarr harbour, and close to Nadur, Xaghra, and Victoria. You need to pass through Qala to go through Hondoq bay, which is very popular with the locals and tourists.Guest review byMaxMalta - 10.0
Nadur is a lovely little village.
Nadur is a lovely little village. We enjoyed walking up to the Club and town centre. A number of bus stops in goods locations to get you to Malsoforn beach and the harbour to catch the ferry to Valetta. The locals are very friendly. Various food vans travel the streets where you can purchase lots of different items , no need to go to the supermarket.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

We stayed during the feast at end July, but we knew what to expect, fireworks/patards and church bells from 8am, church bands in evening and events happening all week. Otherwise at other times, Sannat is a lovely quiet village with band club, football club, small supermarket and bar close to property. Bus stop with hourly bus service into Rabat/Victoria, where you can get other busses to other areas. Or use Bolt (similar to Uber) app to call for taxi as island is not big easy to get around.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
