- From £143.74 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 630 reviewsThe Senja Fjordhotel is a tucked away in the extreme south of the island on the shores of a small fjord. Its very modern as only built 5-6 years ago so was very comfortable with high end fittings. The room was plenty big for both of us and had a nice dual aspect view over the fjord and small boat jetty. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Its a small boutique type hotel and the staff vere very friendly and professional and gave some good tips on local activities. Breakfats each morning was excellent as was the evening dinner. The beauty of the location is that the only thing to do is enjoy nature, we got in some swims and hike in the national park so really enjoyed our three days thereGuest review byDonalIreland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,380 reviewsOur stay at this campsite was wonderful! Very clean and cozy environment, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The cabin was spotless and well-equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The surrounding nature was absolutely breathtaking – stunning views of mountains, fjords, and peaceful landscapes created unforgettable memories. A perfect place for both a short stop and a longer getaway. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet and beautiful spot in Norway!Guest review byValdemarasLithuania

Beds are much comfortable then they look like. There was a table with stools and refrigerator. Shared bathrooms and toilets were clean. Wifi worked fine, shared kitchen provides basic equipment. Parking available right in front of the cabin. You can pay by card and there is a playground on premise. Lady at the reception was very nice.Guest review byVladimírSlovakia
- From £218.42 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,258 reviewsThe beautiful location right on the waterfront gave us an unobstructed view of the northern lights. The staff were very helpful. They set up a crib for our son, called taxis for us, and gave advice about stores and places that would be open. The best part was breakfast - honestly one of the best hotel breakfasts we have ever had! Definitely recommend this hotel.Guest review byRoseColombia
- From £181.80 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 1,034 reviewsOne of the main attractions of Hammerfest is the harbour, and this hotel was located in that area. We had a spacious studio type of room with two huge windows facing the harbour and the sea. Always something to watch! The beds were comfortable. We were visiting around midsummer when the sun doesn't set, but it was easy to block the light with curtains.Guest review byTiinaFinland

Iconic arctic city. Good people.
Iconic arctic city. Good people. Feels a little like it's geared up for American cruise ships; the main street has 7-11s and the world's most northerly MacDonalds and several giant souvenir stores. And, boy, is it hard to get a reasonably priced vegetarian meal? Still, the library building is something to write home about, and the tunnels and underground car park are just remarkable.Guest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We chose Alta, the City of Northern Lights, to "Hunt the Aurora Borealis". We were NOT disappointed. It was a magical experience. Lots of beautiful northern lights shows. We did a number of activities: night time horse drawn sleigh ride and dinner; king crab fishing experience; tour of the Ice Hotel at Sorrisniva; dog sled ride at Holmen Husky. We stayed at a canvas dome in GLOD, with the most amazing guide to see the Northern Lights. We stayed in a forest suite at Holmen Husky. The place was incredible and the way they treat the dogs will completely change your thoughts on the sport of dog sledding. They were the sweetest and happiest dogs I've ever seen. We stayed at Flatmoen Natur Lodge, which is a family owned and ran farm. Each lodge has their own private, outdoor jacuzzi so you can sit outside while the snow is falling or hope to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.Guest review bycmayes80United States - 10.0
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten.
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten. My recommendation is to stay further afield to the full extent you can. as things like quiet, darkness and views all improve a lot away from the airport. And once you do... it can be magic.Guest review byPeterNew Zealand - 10.0
Can't really find any negatives for this place.
Can't really find any negatives for this place. The locals are very friendly, the streets are clean, the scenery is stunning and best of all its only about 35 minutes drive to Norkapp. If you are visiting we would 100% recommend booking a trip to Norkapp. Its a fascinating place...the top of Europe!!. We flew in, stayed 3 nights then departed on a fjord cruise. Well worth every penny. We decided to take a walk one morning, its obviously very hilly but not too taxing. Its about 5 miles to completely encircle the town though that did include a few detours for the sake of photos. There is a restaurant close to the Norkapp museum called The Corner. The food, welcome and service were second to none. Totally recommend it to any visitors. Well that's my opinion of Honningsvag, visit yourself and see what you think.Guest review byJimmy & JulieUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Small town with great history.
Small town with great history. It revolves around tourist, so thankful that the museum was open on Sunday. As I did not join tours, I find 3 days was more than enough. The tour agency for Russian border stated having tours at in the afternoons however did not approve my request and insist that I book a private tour or join the morning tour (together with the tourists from the cruises). I did not want as my mother just arrived from the cruise after 7 days, and she wants to rest first. I ended up booking a taxi and the price is the same. The taxi driver brought us to both Russian borders (old and new), let us spend time and help us take pictures. The price was standard (NOK1,600) for an hour. What is lacking is probably a tour guide to explain things. But that is OK. Kirkenes has a great view but lack good viewing points (well, I did not find any...). I found a randomly shared viewing point up a hill which was good but not the best. Must visits - Andersgrotta (Daily, 12.30pm tour, NOK300 per person), Borderland Museum, Russian Border, and see the pictures in town by Ellisif Wessel.Guest review byCY OngMalaysia - 10.0

This was our accommodation for a work related trip to the area. While the work aspect was riddled with challenges due to the remoteness of the location, the owners quickly became our friends and shared local and unique experiences that would not have been possible otherwise, always willing to go out of their way to help, friendly and welcoming, all around lovely.Guest review byMichael - 10.0

Lovely cute place which is not too commercial.
Lovely cute place which is not too commercial. Great place to do a northern light run, Go for a smaller tour size of 7-8 ppl instead of 50 sized. First its very safe even if you are going solo and also you have a more personal discussion with the group and also much more personalized attention to see the stars and the northern lights.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

The city itself is not necessarily special or historic (though some bits are) but the area around the city has some great scenic walks and of course the outlook across the sea/bay is stunning at any time of year, but particularly in the blue hour of the winter days. Lots of buses run regularly to outlying areas and there are fast buses to the airport to connect with flight check-in times. Take a walk along Stien langs sjøen (path along the shore) to the Trondenes Historical Museum (great wee cafe there) and the Adolf cannon from WW2.Guest review byFraserUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Everyone seems to be profiting from the proximity to Nordkapp, which lowers the overall experience of an otherwise nice town at the edge of Europe. Many cruise ships that dock in the port release heaps of tourists into the town every day, which makes it feel more like a centre of some large city, not a town of 2500 inhabitants.Guest review byPatrikSlovakia
