United StatesNewly built & open since September, 2022, this hotel was most notable for its very contemporary decor and amenities, such as a heated bathroom floor, heated bathroom towels, large shower stall, water conserving bathroom faucet, 4 USB charging outlets in the room (2 at the bedside), extremely comfortable king sized bed, phenomenal room views of Lake Tekapo and its surrounding snow-capped mountains, not to also mention the complimentary milk & coffee for the room. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful & professional.

A lot of people have pointed out that it offers little privacy due to the many glass panels and windows but we didn't find it a problem as there were ample blinds in all the rooms and shared spaces. The fact that each room had its own bathroom was a huge plus point. The kitchen was well-appointed and had everything we needed to cook a simple breakfast. Location was fantastic too. Easily the nicest place we stayed at during our trip around the South Island.

Large and very comfortable bed. Comfortable sofa. Located in a very quiet place with a huge garden, trees, lawn and nice chairs. Easy 5 min walk to Geraldine center and the "4 square". Easy to find but is outside the main roads of Geraldine center therefore very quiet. Very easy check in and check out. They also have apartment with 1 separated bedroom and some with 2 bedrooms. It was so unexpected to get instead of the "room" on booking nice spacious cottage. There were not only full-equipped kitchen, bathroom and two bedroom but also a great living room with so cool and comfortable reclining chairs (exactly like in "Friends" series) and sofa and TV and table football. We were really sad that we have only one night to stay there :( Nice souvenir shop across the road, some sheep and a cat on the backyard are the bonuses. I adore Lake Tekapo. Views for days. Good hot pools. Peaceful. A decent serious hike up Mt John to the Observatory Cafe or an easier one up to Cowes Lookout, both with amazing views. I've been going for years - still small but a good supermarket now and more eateries. It is getting busier and pricey, both accommodation and eateries. On the road to Queenstown so an easy stopover. Go with a car if you can - a side trip into Aoraki Mt Cook and walks up the Hooker Valley are worth it.Guest review byHeatherAustralia - 8.0

Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo. Has been refurbished and had everything we needed. Shower was great & beds were very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet despite being near main road. Host was friendly & welcoming. Maybe a little small for more than 2 or 3 people or for more than a couple of nights. Lake Tekapo will continue to be a place I will come back for my holidays and invite friends and family to join. In time, I believe it will be comparable to Wanaka, Queenstown but with more relaxing atmosphere. The location worked out for our travel arrangements. It was different and the owners were hard working and was a good overnight stopover. It is a perfect pit stop if anyone travelling from Christchuch to Wanaka. We picked our car at Christchurch airport & continued to Lake Tekapo (took around 3 - 3.5 hrs with multiple stops) and stayed here overnight. There are a few reasonable restaurants available close to the hotel in Lake Takepo and most of them close around 8.30 pm. Following next day morning we checked out & visited the famous Shepherd church & lake Tekapo which are next to each other & close to the village shop centre. Fairlie hasnt got buried by tourists yet- it is real and the locals are busy farm folk. There are a couple of good eating places (our favourite is the Library restaurant-changed hands but food still excellent). The supermarket is well stocked. We have done some of the walks with our kids before - the new bike tracks sound interesting-must try them out next time.
