United StatesThis place was an unexpected treasure. Everything down to the fresh baked goods in our room, bath salts for the outdoor tub and chocolates on our pillows was a step beyond. Casey worked with us on arrival and departure times. The views are beautiful, your own private pond and the cabin was exceptionally clean. I wish we would have had more than one night but we would work this place into our trip every time. It is beautiful. We stayed in several other cabins, and this was by far the best because of all the special details. Thank you for all your special attention to the little things.

Not much to do in Oamaru, will recommend visiting the quaint museums, Oamaru heritage museum (pay/donate as you wish) and steampunk museum (NZD$15/pax). both were interactive and we enjoyed it with the helpful stuff. the day was a cloudy and rainy so we opted out of visiting the penguins - they have a live youtube stream of the penguins coming home which we watch. We did visit the penguins tour during the day, which was open to public and saw some fur seals relaxing. To watch the penguins coming home, it's NZD$45 per pax, which we thought was a little expensive. + the weather being bad, we decided to watch them online instead.Guest review byVerenaSingapore - 10.0

I liked exploring the river and would have fished if we had stayed. Food at the local pub was good, we didn't try the steaks. There are lots of families who go to Kurow camping for the water activities in the lakes. There is a newish wetland to explore, and others like to cycle the area. How tidy people's property's. Super friendly people. Good food. Lovely works to the beach. Four square store well stocked, and easy to get around. The beach ( Campbells Bay) was just stunning for walking and a quick dip. Very sheltered. Loved chatting to the locals at the market, the dairy and the owners of Kakanui Tomatoes. I didn’t see much of Otematata as I arrived late afternoon, had a meal and then retired to my room. The next day we drove on to Geraldine early morning. The countryside is interesting, the views superb, I love the McKenzie country and I’ll return for longer next time.
