- From £87.65 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 309 reviewsThis is a stunning house which has been really tastefully converted into a fantastic hotel. It’s comfortable, interesting, inviting and relaxing, all at once. The experience is very like staying in your own (very grand) country house, with beautiful grounds and a wealth of history to explore, complete with attentive staff (especially the wonderful Diogo, who looked after us fantastically), and a brilliant chef. The food was excellent and the wines (produced on the estate) were delicious. We recommend!Guest review byGioiaUnited Kingdom

The facilities are modern and comfortable, the location is convenient, being close to both the highway and the city, and the cleanliness is impeccable. Viseu is a gorgeous little city with rich historical tales, medieval buildings, cute cafes, and lush gardens. I really loved this city and became impressed with how clean and safe it felt, as a young woman. I really want to visit this city again. Can’t say that for most of the cities in Portugal but Viseu was just so charming.Guest review byVictoriaUnited States - 6.0
Nice and modern hotel with a relaxing atmosphere.
Nice and modern hotel with a relaxing atmosphere. Nice restaurant with a view on the hill. We also enjoyed the indoor heated pool. The hotel is located in an area of cheap apartment buildings and the surroundings are not enjoyable. Seen from the outside, the hotel is also ugly, except from the outside swimming pool area.Guest review byAnneFrance - 10.0
Guarda is a city where history and hospitality intertwine...
Guarda is a city where history and hospitality intertwine beneath the vast Portuguese sky. From the moment of arrival, the warmth and kindness of its people shine, making each encounter memorable. The city’s compact layout is perfect for wandering, though the hills reward every step with breathtaking views. The cathedral stands at Guarda’s heart, with its towers offering sweeping vistas over red rooftops and winding alleys. Nearby, the castle and medieval tower are silent keepers of centuries gone by, each providing a unique perspective of the land below. If time permitted, the wild peaks of Serra da Estrela would beckon nature lovers and hikers with their rugged beauty and scenic trails—a promise for another day. Evenings bring culinary delight: Simple.Guarda offers outstanding Italian cuisine, while charming cafes invite guests to linger over coffee and pastries. Shops and markets bustle with life, from tempting kitchen stores to fragrant flowers and perfectly ripe fruit. The ancient, winding streets—paved with time-worn stones—invite exploration, each turn revealing new surprises like parks, a chocolatier, and inviting squares. Our visit felt all too brief. As we left, Guarda remained with us—a city to savor, to wander, and to remember fondly for its gentle magic and the warmth of its people.Guest review byPhyllis - 10.0

Breathtaking views. The area is stunning and so peaceful. We drove into some of the small villages and the locals were so friendly. We prefer to eat away from the tourist areas and we were not disappointed in this area. The food was fresh and tasty and very reasonable.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Great base to visit the Serra de Estrela national park , plenty of nature trails to walk and lots of sites to see . Restaurant places can be hard to find at times , i did end up with a pot noodle in my room one night ( a saturday night on along bank holiday weekend ) as we couldn´t get in a restaurant anywhere .Guest review byStephen G HodgsonPortugal - 8.0

The general feeling is very good, mainly concerning SPA and corresponding facilities. The negative point is practical impossibility to speak in English with staff. It was not correct ROOM SERVICE, time wise and quality wise. There is a need to have a charging station for electric cars. Anyway we will recommend the hotel for sure!Guest review byMarkPortugal - 6.0

The Quinta de Sao Luiz, where we were staying, made a reservation for us at a restaurant in Tabuaco. The drive to the restaurant was challenging due to the serpentine road and rainy weather. I don't think there was much to do in that small town, but we had an okay experience at the restaurant.Guest review byDmitryUnited States - 10.0

The region is famous for the prehistorick art on rocks depicting animals 20,000 or more years ago, but there is also a profusion of medieval castles around and cultural sites. For lovers of good wine it is also an excellent visit, the north style of food is marvellous and all is very quiet. Some roads are a bit narrow if you want to go to remote pleces... I suggest to visit with time and go visit the small places, enjoy the quiet, the occasional wild animals, and take some time to hear the local people's stories.Guest review byWanderingwonderPortugal - 10.0

The town is the administrative centre for a group of villages, with a museum, town hall and the usual shops, including three large supermarkets. Tondela is spread along a steep hill on Route N2. There is access to the Ecopista da Dao cycleway which stretches for 48 km along a former railway track, now asphalted. Nearby is the remarkable Museu do Caramulo with a wonderful collection of historic and classic cars and motorcycles.Guest review byDesmondUnited Kingdom
