Breakfast was an additional 12 Euros each, looked great but we got coffee and pastry down the street for 5 Euros. We had dinner in the restaurant which was fairly good, not great, but it was too rainy to explore the many options that evening. 8-0 Euros for two including wine so who can complain? It's spectacular and modern interior, lovely bar, and overall ambience is at the cutting edge of modern hotel design. Evora is a very nice town and the Olive is well located.

The hotel and outside spaces were impressive, as was the location - very convenient for the admittedly small town, with easy parking nearby and a good restaurant opposite. We particularly appreciated the guest lounge and its stove, as it was cold when we stayed (New Year period). We will definitely stay again.

A Gem of a place, nestled in the foothills, 5 mins drive from the old city of Monsaraz. An almost all women team of efficient, ever helpful and friendly crew run this pristine white and blue walled resort with 2 swimming pools, cabanas, spacious rooms, sit outs, good breakfast (the best selection of fruit i have seen in Europe) ample parking The night sky is stunning here. Do book a slot at the observatory 7-8 min ride away. We also attended the June 1st beginning of Summer beach party at the Praia Fleuvial, one tip of the beautiful lake Alonqueva - great music and dance on the beach.. Also do the one hour boat cruise.

If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful place, Herdade Ribeira it is. Very nice house, comfortable, tastefully furnished and clean. The communication via phone or text message is working great, breakfast with fresh products is delivered in the morning around 9:30 - you can choose the day before from a menu. We spent three nights and left the house only for swimming in the pool and one trip to Evora.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming. We were welcomed with a lovely glass of Rose. As we were celebrating a special wedding anniversary, we were spoiled after dinner with an amazing heart-shaped chocolate cake. The wine tour/tasting was excellent. The attention to detail to ensure wines selected for tasting were not ones we had previously had during our stay.

I liked the chalet. I also liked the campsite and its location so close to the centre of Evora. Everything was clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly. Excellent on- site facilities. We were there to attend a wedding so unfortunately had no time to use the pool but it looked very good with a generous sunbathing area. Wished we could have stayed longer.

Blew me away. I arrived late and tired but the staff settled me in. The next day was lovely and even though the had a buyout of the resort which meant I couldn't extend my stay, they let me use the pool for a few hours past checkout. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Evora has plenty of history both culturally and gastronomically. Wonderful stuff. The inner city is small and very accessible by foot. I do not recommend driving within the walls. We were lucky to access a location to stay that was very close to public parking just outside the walls. Find locations to eat in side streets, they’re much more intimate and authentic. We settled on Baiuca, husband and wife that served and cooked.

It took longer to retrieve our rental car from Lisbon than we expected, and we stopped in Evora on our way to Monsaraz. We arrived late and left in the morning, leaving little time to explore. A full day is probably enough, which we intended to have but misjudged the time navigating the transportation. Driving through town was an adventure with the very narrow and steep streets. The restaurant was very traditional, and felt authentic. We would recommend a stop in this charming old town.

History, history, history, the perfect place for a walking tour with so much variety, and very good food plus friendly helpful service. The only drawback was the bus station, where a begger seems to hang out asking everyone for money, and the absence of an obvious persons selling bus tickets. You have to know to go to the bar to buy a ticket.

    Very cute Historic Fortified Town.

Very cute Historic Fortified Town. Its very well cared for, very easy to access and visit. Never forget that this is a town on the top of a hill, so there are a lot of walking up and down to visit it properly. We enjoyed a lot the experience. There are only a few restaurants, really just a few and I think they only cater to the tourist and, we followed the google maps rating to choose one and we did very bad. The food was not good at all for the prices charged, So I think in terms restaurants there they just try to take advantage of the tourists visiting , charging high prices and offering very plain not well prepared food, a tourist trap. We found a great excellent coffee shop by the old castle entrance (not the city main entrance). The nice lady served great 5* coffee.

Castelo de Vide is a charming and peaceful hilltop town full of history and character. With its medieval castle, cobbled streets, and beautifully preserved Jewish quarter, it feels like stepping back in time. The views over the Alentejo hills are breathtaking, and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. It’s the perfect destination for a quiet getaway, surrounded by nature, culture, and authentic Portuguese charm. Ideal for slow travel and those looking to unwind in a truly special place.
