Amazing. This was such a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. I had one of the modern rooms (but I looked in the door of an empty older style room and it was beautiful too). My bed was the most comfortable bed I have had in Thailand. There is an outside natural pool fed by stream water, and there are free kayaks to use. You can kayak from the property (from a tributary) onto the lake in two minutes. The free breakfast is good. I tried both the Thai and the American breakfasts on different days. Both were good, but I preferred the Thai one. They deliver breakfast to your room and I had it on my balcony. . One night I had dinner from the hotel on my room's roof terrace. The food was good and fresh. Finally, it's great value for money.

Very friendly people, like almost everywhere in Thailand. You have to order your food in advance and then it is brought to your hut if you want. So dinner with great views from the porch of your hut. The restaurant is nice too. Breakfast is ok, not spectacular. Very nice to swim in and kayak on the river. If you get up early you can see lots of birds flying anround and maybe a monitor lizard swimming in the river. Close to Erawan Falls, so you can go before the crowds arrive.

Service was exceptional. We stayed during the low season and got a free upgrade. Besides this, the lady who took care of the hotel, was very accommodating and would help us with any questions we might've had. She even picked us up when we biked down to the night market and it started pouring. Besides this, the facilities are great. Everything was clean, modern and the beds were soft. This was by far the best hotel while staying in Thailand. I highly recommend staying here if you are in Kanchanaburi.

The property is brand new, spotlessly clean, in a quiet location, with good and comfortable facilities. The hosts are friendly and helpful. I had a motorbike so the journey into town was easy - it’s around 20 minutes walk each way.

We had a spacious and clean room with a marvelous view over the city and into the mountains. It was quiet and the beds comfortable, even though the hotel is situated in the center of everything. Short walk from the train station or the bridge over the Kwai. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast yummy and the pool small but nice.

A great place to stay in Kanchanaburi in a good location for everything . Rooms are very clean and comfortable, the food here is excellent they have a great menu with international dishes available too , breakfast is free for some of the rooms with a set menu , but also have bigger breakfasts available at a good price and delicious 😋. The staff here are very friendly and make you feel like part of the family , Patrick a Thai worker here is always happy and very helpful . There is also a great swimming pool here too which is great to cool off with plenty of new sun loungers . For me this place is a home from home I won't want to leave 😄. Thanks again to all the staff at Phongphen for making this place so good 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️.

Hotel is good, comfortable beds good shower, hot and cold...

Hotel is good, comfortable beds good shower, hot and cold water in the sink, swimming pool was nice but the water was a little dirty in my opinion, never saw pool cleaners but l was only there for 3 days, Rooms are large and clean, Only downside for myself and my friends was it’s a long way from the bars and restaurants that serve European food, There are taxis outside, old pick up trucks not nice air conditioned cars, they charge 100 baht to go up the straight road, which is ok but we had to have a taxi to go for breakfast there and back then another to go out in the evening out and back, so an extra 400 baht a day on the room price, If the hotel would provide a free shuttle service like many hotels do in other cities, I’m sure they would do better business.

Sai Yok is great for people wanting to visit beautiful natural wonders and the terrible death railway of WW11. However, information is often incorrect and wrong most locals have no English. I researched extensively and even that was not enough most websites offer information that is ab solutely wrong and only their own experience NOT FACTS, enjoy.

What a place to visit if you are a history enthusiast.

What a place to visit if you are a history enthusiast. My primary purpose was to see the Hellfire Pass for the ANZAC Day service. If you are here on April 25th, you must take the trip to the service. It was emotional, an eerie yet beautiful way to remember those servicemen from many countries who lost their lives. The River Kwai bridge was busy with tourists when the trains arrived; however, it's quieter in the afternoon between train schedules. Not to be missed is the bridge being lit up at night. Head over the bridge to the opposite side and enjoy the food, watch the light show, and listen to Thai music. I had the best noodles there, and the price was $2.50 AUD. You will also be able to experience where the actual camp was in the olden days. I stayed at Siam Guesthouse, a family-run business in a perfect location. It was budget-friendly and provided excellent service—a great place to start exploring the wonderful Kanchanaburi.

Sai Yok is a big place which encompasses National Parks, reservoirs and dams as well as forests, mountains, animal sanctuaries, rivers and even a World War 2 death railway. You can choose to drive up in a personal car, as I did, about 3 hours from Bangkok but on a very scenic route, or you can take the train. Once there you can travel on the famed river Kwai if you want to and see all of the natural beauty and wildlife that abounds. I only went for 3 days this time but it is about my 12th visit as I live in Bangkok, and I always find that there is something different to do, just be aware of the rainy season which can curtail anyone's day.

There is nothing about this place that I would recommend!

There is nothing about this place that I would recommend! This should be 200 baht per night, not 2500! The room is atrocious, the drinks menu had many options but unless you like Tiger beer, you’re out of luck! 350 baht for Tom Yum that even my Thai partner couldn’t eat! Hot water was broken and was eventually fixed after I insisted! Every food service was cold! Of course, I wanted to leave immediately but no refund! And of course booking.com don’t answer any queries! So let’s review them as well! Have sent 2 emails and had no response! Happy to take your money but that’s it! As a genius level member, you would think that they would care about something that they are promoting! Apparently not so bye bye Booking.com

I travelled to Sai Yok by car, so was able to explore the area easily. I didn't book any organised trips. Sai Yok National Park was worth the Foreigner price - the waterfalls were easily accessible, and if I was younger and fitter I would have been able to spend a long time wandering about. I refused to pay the foreigner price for Lawa Cave, as did the Western family with four children who arrived at the same time. I did not feel that the experience would be worth it, and for the family it would have been extremely expensive. Thin Lin Hot Springs, however, charges the same price for everyone. Affordable for Thai people and an absolute bargain for Westerners. The pools are tiled, so do not look natural, but it is very clean and a beautiful place. There is a roped off area in the nearby river, so it is possible to swim and paddle safely without fear of being swept away. The current is very strong. The area is very beautiful and quite unspoilt. I recommend it for those wanting a peaceful, back to nature type of holiday.
