- From US$401.96 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 54 reviewsWe were travelled all the way from Sun Moon Lake to Ruifang for an opportunity to stay in this wonderful villa, it is by far the best accomodation throughout our time in Taiwan and possibly one of the best in the world. The entire experience is just of surreal quality and very nature oriented. We have stayed in numerous hotels around but definitely nothing of this caliber. Firstly, it is the personal touch from the owner which makes it very special, he is a very hands-on and honest dude providing AUTHENTIC recommendations throughout our stay... and we definitely shared some of our artistic interests with one another as well. Try getting that personal touch in The Ritz, Claridges or even Shintamani... (all you will experience is just a formalistic approach) Secondly, the Villa is located in an almost abandoned hill which used to be a gold-mine hill with very little occupants around that hill and that is absolutely phenomenal... It is like an accomodation in a movie, very idyllic, peaceful and in an almost youtopian state Thirdly, and this comes as a surprise, we didnt know that up the hill it is Jiufen (one of the most popular spots in Taiwan), which is only a 5 minute drive up. Jiufen and Shifen is a must go destination in Taiwan, in fact I am looking to stay in a similar accomodation in Jiufen hopefully in my next visit. There are many other extraordinary experiences in this villa that is just priceless, from dining with complete privacy (just the 2 of us) and a stunning view, to sleeping with the sounds of the nature in an almost abandoned location. It is an accomodation just like a dream, once in a lifetime.Guest review byGarethSingapore
- From US$211.64 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 353 reviewsAt first, the lady guiding us to our room took us through the janitor's closet. Which we found very strange. And she didn't show us any other way. So we just kept using the maintenance hallway and elevator. People kept telling us we weren't supposed to be there. Until finally one employee showed us the correct way. Anyway we all had a good laugh about it in the end. But I wonder why that initial employee took us via the wrong way. Other than that the stay was perfectGuest review byJoelTaiwan
- From US$181.69 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 478 reviewsWe had an amazing stay at Adagio, especially thanks to our wonderful host Alex who made us feel very welcome. It was the warmest and most relaxing welcome we received in any hotel during our trip through Taiwan. The scenery and nature around the hotel is really beautiful and we can only recommend coming there. If we come back to Taiwan we will definitely stay here again.Guest review byLeonieGermany
- From US$539.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 538 reviewsHotel with excellent spa and hot spring facilities, with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast buffet has lots of options, both Western and Asian. The large room had two big king size beds, an in-room onsen and a free minibar. All great. The hotel is close by great hiking paths and has a very reasonably priced shuttle/taxi service to anywhere in Yangminshan.Guest review byBrunoUnited Kingdom

The room was absolutely fine, while the hot spring was a bonus. Breakfast was mainly local style, but we were okay with that. On the whole wonderful for those who love natureGuest review byMarcoThailand

I think I’m still in shock at the price and how large the unit was - maybe I lucked out. One of the things I usually look for is how clean the towels and the bed are and it was clean. No hair, no stain, and the tiles were clean too.Guest review byAureliusUnited Kingdom

Fabulous place. Rather touristy, but the character is great. Very hilly, and steep. Great coffee shops. Old street very crowded but quaint, and touristy. Great treks to be had, but very steep steps. Great local sightseeing. Well worth a visit.Guest review byRosemarieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The highlight of my trip was my morning stroll by the riverside. It was a peaceful Sunday morning. The weather was cool and it was not that sunny. In contrast with the hustle and bustle of the previous Saturday evening (which was also a sight to behold), there were not a lot of people at the plaza and the park apart from some joggers and men fishing in the river. I culminated my stroll with a visit to one of the popular eateries in the neighbourhood serving authentic a-gei (淡水老牌阿給 創始店, No. 6之1號, Zhenli St, Tamsui District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 251). This was one of the reasons I wanted to visit Tamsui. I ordered a-gei with a side of fish ball soup. And it did not disappoint. The a-gei was very filling and flavourful. It reminded me of sotanghon I used to eat back home. The fish balls, on the other hand, were packed with filling and immersed in a hot peppery soup. I was looking for a relaxing/restful experience for my weekend trip. I definitely got that during my stay in Tamsui.Guest review byIzzah Mei - 8.0

Within a few hour driving distance to Taipei City, it is one of the most popular spots during the weekends. In this district there is still a large paid parking spot, which is greatly appreciated. Seafood restaurants competition is fierce here, but you still need to know what you are ordering and what king of price information. It does not have the notourious reputation like Fu-Ji port nearby where the restaurante fleeced the clients. If you hate the crowd, and does not like to stay in line for parking or restaurants, avoid the holidays or weekends. During weekdays it is a lot more comfortable. Highly recommend to spend overnight to view the sunrise and sunset and you can go to the beach when it is not as crowded.Guest review byYih HsinTaiwan - 6.0
Good location and right on yellow line subway.
Good location and right on yellow line subway. Close to a small night market. I can speak Chinese,so no communication problem. But, not sure if someone who can’t speak will be. It does have cockroaches.Guest review byChungyi (Emma)United States - 8.0

I really enjoyed just escaping Tapei for a few days and basking in the nature, even if one day was just storms and rain. There was some vegan options at Old Street and at the hotel, and the view across the water was incredible. If you have any physical issues, keep in mind there are a lot of steep steps, hills and cobblestone pathways that may limit accessibility.Guest review byBronwynAustralia - 8.0
Good for walking along the riverside.
Good for walking along the riverside. More interesting if you wander up the back streets. The hotel staff didn’t know where a laundry was but found a laundromat 5 minutes walk away - turn right and walk up the hill - take the first lane on the right and its on the left - self service with washing and drying machines - new and clean.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 4.0
Tourist trap.
Tourist trap. Beautiful for photos (if you're ok with hundreds of people in the background) but everything else was bad -- soooo overcrowded. The food was bad (except for pineapple cakes) and everything was only open during the peak of the day - around 10-7, so forget about breakfast or a late dinner. If you insist on seeing it then I think a day trip would suffice, sadly staying the night was not at all beneficial because once the day tourists leave on their tour busses, the whole place shuts down with metal doors on all the shops in the street so doesn't even make for a good photo.Guest review byTaylorUnited States - 6.0
I loved Tamsui, where the hotel is located.
I loved Tamsui, where the hotel is located. The old part of town was around the corner and 7 min. walk away is the long waterfront with hundreds of food stalls, restaurants and lots of people having a good time strolling, flying kites and eating delicious local foods. The hotel was ok but dated. The mattresses were not comfortable and the air conditioner didn’t work.Guest review byTherryUnited States
