Book an open jeep with a guide in advance, and start the safari when Mikumi opens at 07:30. Our guide, called "Bob" had been working there for 7 years and knew everything about all the animals. We stayd in the jeep until 13:00 and experienced a lot of animals. The road to the waterholes for the hippos closed due to heavy rain so we missed that. All four of us enjoyed the safari, and rated it 10 of 10. We didn't sleep over in Mikumi National Park.Guest review byLillyNorway - 10.0

We found Camp Atupele a wonderful place to stay for our visit to the impressive Mikumi National park. Furthermore we did a fantastic hiking track into the mountains to visit the Chizura Waterfall (great views, very refreshing swim and nice meetings with local people) guided by a young Massai, who answered all of our "one million" questions about nature and culture. The Camp Atupele owners are very dedicated to the region and do not just offer a beautiful touristic lodge with delicious food, nice and clean accommodations, pool, friendly staff to visitors but also include the surrounding villages and people in their activities to have their share in livelihood development, which impressed us very much.Guest review bySilke - 10.0

Mikumi provides an excellent opportunity for short safaris where you can see diverse wildlife in a short time. The landscape is amazing, with a sprawling savanna surrounded by beautiful mountains. The park has good facilities for picnicking.Guest review byPeder
