Paradise Bay is definitely paradise! We had one of the Mountain View apartments and enjoyed a fully equipped kitchen and a balcony with views of the lovely, carefully maintained gardens, the mountains and even the ocean. If you like a quiet location with lots of beautiful nature surrounding you, combined with true Aloha Spirit this is the place to be: Everyone made us feel really welcome and the stuff was always very helpful. We loved the kayak tour, the live music, the coffee, everything. You couldn't find a better starting point for exploring the beautiful east coast of Ohau - and if you feel like experiencing all the buzz of Honolulu even that isn't far away.

Although I thought the room needed upgrading, the property itself was lovely and the staff was great. I really enjoyed the easy-going feel of the place - just what I needed. It was often cloudy in the morning but sun came out in the afternoon. We rented a car which worked out great but they do charge a 15$ fee for parking each day. Overall I would stay again and would recommend to friends.

Beautiful beach, that was the best part.
Beautiful beach, that was the best part. The prices in Hawaii are ridiculous. Very high. The are grocery stores that you can buy your own food and cook if you have a kitchen. Nice people. My fav was the taco truck that had such good fresh healthy food. I would eat there everyday. He was on Kihapai st and oneawa st , late in the evening. Best recommendation.
Its mostly safe, some homeless here and there not much in the residential areas. Few bars from high end, to crossroads to Kailua tavern that has the best karaoke bartender you have ever heard. He sings and makes your drinks.
Food is ok, if you are a foodies it's hit and miss.. in the restaurants..
Super fun, you can get amazing surfing cheap lessons with Mike and Andy at 808 Surt School by Kamehameha Hwy opposite of the shrimp shack.
Lot of great experiences, so much beautiful sun. Beautiful place. We'll be back.

This can be a good place to stay you may have to over look some of the issues this location has. THIS IS NOT A JW MARRIOTT don't expect it. Even pricey hotels aren't perfect.
The beach is close and turtles do land on it in the evenings. The water is very shallow all the way out to the reef - probably good for beginners. This location is close to the Polynesian Cultural Center and is about the middle of all North Shore points of interest. We did not stay in the room much because we were away seeing the rest of the island during the day.

I'm reluctant to share my favorite spots because I don't want to spoil this little gem. It's quiet and not really discovered yet. The beaches are incredible and it has an old Hawaii feel to it. Little roadside stands. You will appreciate a car here but there is a great bus service that's easy to access.

Kailua is a quiet place to stay, away from the crowds in Honolulu. It is close to beaches and has easy access to grocery stores and restaurants in town. Access to activities in Honolulu are not far way via the Pali Highway.

Great location when you want somewhere quieter to stay.
Great location when you want somewhere quieter to stay. We had already stayed in Waikiki & done lots of shopping. It was a nice relaxing end to our holiday. It’s not very close to food & shops, etc so it would be better to have a rental car to get around.

We rented 8 cottages, in some the rooms the air conditioners weren't working at their best. The cottages were nice and we were generally pleased with them. That ocean breeze was absolutely amazing.

The East side of Oahu is not really as tourist as the Waikiki and Honolulu areas of the island and for us was all the better for it. There are a large number of much quieter beaches and overall its not as busy. Its short of proper restaurants so self catering is a better option, there are fast food places but more what you would expect for residents rather than for special occasions. You definitely need a rental car here because it would be hard to get around without one. If you are in to cycling that would also work of course.

Loved the drive to North Shore.
Loved the drive to North Shore. Must stop at Ted's Bakery--more than a bakery--have the spicy, garlic mahi mahi--it will change your world.
Spend an afternoon at Three Tables beach in the shade of the tropical almond trees. Go to Haleiwa for happy hour at Uncle Bo's and watch the sunset in the lovely park facing the harbor. Drive into Honolulu for the BEST malasadas at Leonard's--legendary.
