- From £61.28 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 288 reviewsThe accommodation is simple but more than adequate for self-catering although the one dinner & breakfast we had were excellent. The farm is quite remote and very peaceful situated near the Matzikamma Mountains the view of which is spectacular in the light of the setting sun. The nearby brilliant Gifberg pass leaves the flowerlands of Namaqualand (well worth a visit in flower time) to reveal a remarkable fynbos area where there is a lot of rooibos tea growing. Our hostess, Ancarene, could not have been better.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom
- From £50.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 131 reviewsWe loved the farm and its location. It was exactly what I was looking for. Peace. We loved the experience of being on a working farm. We loved the citrus trees amongst the fynbos and obviously the waterfall. There are lots of birds on the property. We would recommend this farm for people who would like to get away from the city's bustle. I recommend a few nights at least. Please plan you stay with the weather in mind.Guest review byDonSouth Africa

I know Clanwilliam well over many years.
I know Clanwilliam well over many years. It is a good base but we were there just one night so no time to visit Ramskop or browse the shops. It is a goos base especially in the flower season. Sadly we missed the Annual Flower Show which I always enjoy. Our stay in 3 Leipolt Street was very comfortable and i commend our host for her friendly welcome and seeing us off. Added touches were noted such as the bottle of wine, rooibos tea, rusks. Recommended a very upmarket restaurant across the street - we had an excellent meal there with an extra careful waiter - new on the job and from Wuppertal, so good to employ local staff and train them.Guest review byTessaSouth Africa - 10.0

We only stayed one night at Maskam Guest farm, but I will definitely return. We did not see much of the area as the trip was to see family only. The mountains are spectacular and the night sky is so stunningly clear. I would love to also roam on the farm and see more of it.Guest review bydeVilliers - 10.0
The healing waters of the spring.
The healing waters of the spring. The rock pools are so great, relaxing ... your body and spirit are renewed after relaxing in the pool or rock pools. The absolute quietness are wonderful. Each property or house is designed so that you feel you are the only people around. Love the privacy and connecting with nature. After 43 years of visiting the property love all the upgrades and that it still keep the historic buildings in such a good condition.Guest review byDunhofenSouth Africa - 6.0
The Klawer hotel is something to visit.
The Klawer hotel is something to visit. We had a very interesting meal there. The place itself is not spectacular, but for atmosphere you must visit this Margo's restaurant, if only to see the "Halucinogenic fish" - at least that is what the waitress called the inhabitants of the fishtank that was sitting opposite our table.Guest review byvivSouth Africa - 10.0
Absolutely stunning views.
Absolutely stunning views. Definitely recommend high clearance vehicle. Lots of gravel roads, some are not great. When it rains, the roads are dangerous. Lots of driving through very deep puddles and some bridges washed away. But A+ for adventure.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0

Besides going to view the flowers (which was the main reason for going) and visiting the Gaol House/ Museum, with a super enthusiastic guide, there was not much else to see or do. There were no quaint shops to visit and everything was closed on the Sunday. The only restaurant choice was the Hotel.Guest review byJulie MarzioSouth Africa - 10.0

The town is quaint and a nice safe walk around it in the evening was a pleasant surprise. The Old Jail is a must see together with the nurseries. Lodge was very accommodating and people seem friendly and helpful. The Shell garage attendants were funny and made filling up an experience. All told - fabulous little dorpie!Guest review byBresler - 4.0

I will never return as everything from the Maintenace round the pool, inside the chalet and outside was not done. Area in the reception was disgusting and open wires under the jacuzzi and outside the chalet after what seems to be a geyser that was replaced. No Wifi for 24 hours on arrival, no water for 3 hours, jacuzzi not working and tripping all the time, grass in the main pool area left very long during peak season TRULY A POOR EXPERIENCE AND I WIL NEVER GO BACKGuest review byArnold - 8.0
Small town but central for travellers. Wine tasting nearby.
Small town but central for travellers. Wine tasting nearby. Clanwilliam, Biedouw Valley and flower route. Niewhwoudtville and nature reserves. Klawer Hotel is a older hotel, great for a stop over. Serves a great pizza. Will certainly make Klawer the next holiday stop for at least 3-4 days. Great for camping.Guest review byThompsonSouth Africa - 10.0
The staff were super friendly, helpful and efficient.
The staff were super friendly, helpful and efficient. Our Eco-Cottage was beautifully positioned to maximise on the stunning mountain scenery and sunsets while being completely private. We booked supper and breakfast in the restaurant. The 3 course meal was superb; I would highly recommend the Lamb shank... The weather was sublime and we could dine out on the deck, still appreciating the surrounding beauty of nature. We would highly recommend this venue and its facilities and will definitely be returning again.Guest review bySusanSouth Africa
