- From £62.75 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 767 reviewsA very nice and lovely place with tasty breakfasts and dinner. The territory is big and beautiful. There are enclosures with ostriches and springboks there which children may especially like. Fishing rods for fishing in their pond are also available there, so despite the location is quite remote from the town, there is still a lot to do on the territory for adults and children. The room was clean and nice with all the necessary thingsGuest review byIrinaSpain

we have been to Oudtshoorn several times over a number of years. The attractions are mainly the same but still worth a visit - however interesting to see how much the town has grown and evolved. The drive through the Swartberg Mountains is NOT to be missed. The primary reason we took this trip.Guest review bySumayaSouth Africa - 10.0

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.Guest review byIsabellaSouth Africa - 8.0

We had travelled through Calitzdorp a few times many years ago but this was the first time we stopped and stayed. Calitzdorp is very interesting: it has many wineries, excellent eateries, historical sites, the hot spa isn't too far out of town, and the weather was great - moderate during April.Guest review byRodneySouth Africa - 6.0

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.Guest review byChristopherSouth Africa - 8.0

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.Guest review byRobynSouth Africa - 10.0

A wonderful spot for a mini break - offers scenic drives and wonderful experiences. The people are generally warm and welcoming. There are many small businesses worth supporting. Stayed at Mooiplaas guest house a few years ago and the service and provisions were highly commendable!Guest review byWSouth Africa - 10.0

I love that the people there have old school charm, honest and down to earth. The arty vibe and friendliness stand out for me. If you love reading as I do, it is just perfect. Peaceful, relaxed and lovely. Great architecture in town and amazing rock formations and plants on the outskirts. It just has so much interesting facets.Guest review byCathySouth Africa
