How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewExcellent. Edward was a superb host. Helped us out with tips on what to do, buses and a great taxi driver. We felt like we were in a family home and were cared about. He was most informative about the history of Albania and has established a history site in his property across from the guest house. worthwhile to check it out. The breakfast was varied and very generous. The welcome treats were most appreciated. The location is fabulous. In the old town and a traditional house. Very few steps to climb, unlike many other places we looked at. The view from the upstairs outdoor room where we all had breakfast is superb with great view of the castle. Loved the bed linen. Lots of good restaurants around Thanks Edward and Diana
Thank you so much to you and your husband! I wish you a life full of positivity, just as you shared with us during our stay. You are truly wonderful hosts and true gentlemen!

Verified reviewEdward welcomed us with open arms, offering us the possibility to choose between rooms. He gave us a large bottle of cooled water upon arrival and manoeuvred our car in the narrow 2 way street and helped us to a cheaper parking place: visibly annoyed that there is no free parking anymore since last month. Location is great in the first cobbled street from Gorica bridge. Basic rooms and bathrooms but with all the amenities. Very quiet. Breakfast served in the main room or on rooftop terrace through steep spiral staircase. Simple and hearty. Rooftop terrace with pallet furniture offers great sights on Magalem and the fort.
Photos on the booking site slightly overdone. Since May no more free parking it seems. Edward will take you to a cheaper place: 2 €/ 24 hrs.
Thank you

Verified reviewLovely quaint building - inside & outside - a very ‘hippie-like’ relaxed atmosphere - roof terrace had spectacular views across the river. Room was oldly and rustic - no frills - I loved it. Quiet location bur short walk across the bridge to the main old town area (but still plenty of bars, restaurants, shops around) Host Edward was a very friendly & interesting character- and took pride in conversation
Room was a bit cold but plenty of extra blankets provided in the wardrobe
Thank you!

Verified reviewWe thought the best part about this apartment was the location and being in one of the oldest buildings in Berat. Decorations in living area were super picturesque. We also really loved the host and hospitality, the breakfast was large and lovely on a terrace with a view to the hill of fortress.
Room itself was a little cold and had a window to nowhere, but it didn't bother us as there was a nice terrace to use. Kitchen could be cleaner.
Thanks!

Verified reviewGood location, not far from the center. Nice to see that old houses are still used instead of being torn down. Only minor point for me, there's a lot of light coming in via the door and the small rooftop windows.
thank you

Verified reviewWe stayed here for 2 nights. Edward the owner was super nice and made sure we stay comfortably. At night it was cold but thankfully the heating system is very efficient and kept room warm. The location is perfect. We can walk to main town in 5 minutes. The breakfast they serve is coffee, eggs, bread and sausage. It was simple and delicious. We love our stay. Highly recommended.
thank you very much for the kind words! We are waiting for you to continue exploring Berat in the spring!

Verified reviewThe way the property is styled - exactly like the pictures show ❤️ We were also offered a guide to show us around the city (extra fee), so now I can also recommend Bruno, as we really enjoyed his storytelling. Short walking distance to a free, public car park Kitchen access
Would be nice to get a kettle for the kitchen :)

Verified reviewit was a great location, and the best rooftop terrace, where we sat every night. The house was the oldest in the area, and has this museum feel to it, old and rustic, with a nice atmosphere. There came a sweet lady every morning and made us breakfast, which was so nice. The host was friendly and helpful. and checkin to see if everything was good. the house was nice walk distance to everything. We would defiantly stay here again.
The kitchen was dirty. If you have small kids, as we do, the stairs to the 1st floor was really steep. but our 5 year old managed fine, but need to help our 2,5 year old, and wouldn't let her take them by her self. And the roof terrace has a bit of too big openings to your liking for the small kids, but there was enough pallet furniture's to fence of these places, so it wasn't a problem. Just to have in mind if booking with small children, else no worries :)
I thank you a lot about your suggestion, ofc I will work on that, also you are welcomed once again and thanks for the review appreciate it 😊

Verified reviewGreat location with nearby free public parking. Nice rooftop terrace to enjoy your drinks in the evening and the breakfast in the morning. Very cosy 'lobby'.
The communal kitchen wasn't the cleanest, but I just put my stuff in a plastic bag in the fridge.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart! You are welcomed anytime, as my friends😊
