How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe absolutely loved the infinity pool overlooking the sea near Dhermi—easily the star of the show. Poolside service? Spot on. Breakfast? Quite good. And the staff? Exceptionally helpful (the kind you secretly wish you could take home). The hotel itself sits high on a hill, and the views from up there are nothing short of stunning. Honestly, we were thrilled we didn’t stay down by the beach—too humid, too crowded, and way too many people competing for the same patch of sand.
We couldn’t quite figure out why the room didn’t have blackout curtains—seems like such a simple win. A couple of bottles of mineral water in the room would’ve been a nice touch too, especially for a place that’s otherwise top-notch. It would also be great if the hotel offered a little perk, like a discount on at least one dinner. Breakfast was good… aside from the bees, who clearly thought they were paying guests. And while the rooms were comfortable, just a bit more space would’ve made them perfect.

Verified review-Inifinity pool -There is parking -Room was OK -Staff is friendly
-Breakfast is bad (very limited choices). They need to fix that. -Location is bad -> steep two way road with a width of a one way road (have to drive carefully) -Need to take stairs to reach most of the rooms of the hotel -Because of the location you will not want to go out to Dhermi often

Verified reviewThe pool is quite nice, exactly as depicted in photos Free parking The staff are friendly and keen to help if you ask
We booked the 'balcony room' without sea view and the overall experience was extremely disappointing given that this hotel is marketed as an "art of luxury" hotel on their website, and expensive for Albanian standards. At best, it is an unfinished construction site: - The room gives onto a 3 meters raw concrete wall, which hasn't been painted and blocks the entire view (see photo, this was conveniently saturated out in their official photos) - The bathroom has zero ventilation (a tiny window which can't be opened and no fan) which means it is constantly humid, furthermore it has poor plumbing. Our shower clogged twice in our 4 days stay. - There is no complimentary water in the room, not even glasses to drink from or a box of tissues (not something you expect at a "luxury" hotel) - The room was never kept during our stay (towels are not changed either unless asked). There is not even basic room service. - The breakfast has limited choice and the restaurant is overpriced as per Albanian standards. The amount of wasps in the eating area makes it impossible to enjoy eating in peace - Staff is keen to help if asked but not trained properly. We were very disappointed as this hotel is expensive and is nowhere near the standard you would expect at this price point.

Verified reviewCommunal and pool area was nice although felt smaller than the photos Staff were friendly and giving out shots Comfy sunbeds
‘Delux double room’ was a let down with the ‘balcony’ opening out onto a concrete wall covered in pipe work. Half the rooms are in a separate building across the road which didn’t feel like part of the hotel and you have to walk up 5 flights of stairs to get to (not ideal in the heat). Breakfast was a bit chaotic if you came down after 9am (even though it should have been from 8-10am) and lots of the items were cold or under stocked and with warm orange juice.
The rooms are exactly as shown in the photos, clean, spacious, and comfortable, ensuring our guests know exactly what to expect upon arrival. Our property currently consists of two buildings: one with family rooms and the other with double rooms, all situated close to each other in a beautiful and quiet area, ideal for relaxation. We are also in the process of developing a third building and a private villa to provide even more accommodation options for our guests. A varied and fresh breakfast is available each morning to start your day well, and we also offer a buggy service to assist guests in moving comfortably between the buildings and shared spaces on the property. We look forward to welcoming you and ensuring you have a pleasant and memorable stay Best regards

Verified reviewWe stayed for three nights at Hotel Amare, near Dhermi in Albania, and had an exceptional experience. The view from the hotel is absolutely breathtaking – a stunning panorama of the mountains and sea. The hotel staff was friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. Every request was met with a smile and prompt service. Julian, the hotel manager, was especially kind and helpful. He made sure we felt comfortable, assisted us with anything we needed, and even helped us arrange a wonderful beach tour from Dhermi. The pool was very clean and well-maintained, and the view from it was incredible – we didn’t want to leave! Since the hotel is located on a hillside, there are some uphill walks, but the hotel offers convenient buggy rides to and from the rooms, which made it easy.
The shower in the room was open, with no curtain or door, which was slightly inconvenient, but manageable. Additionally, we had a minor clog in the bathroom that was resolved quickly and efficiently by the staff.

Verified reviewIf I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Hotel Amare in Palasë exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the attention to detail was evident — everything was spotless, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully designed. The cleanliness was impeccable, and every corner of the hotel felt fresh and welcoming. The food? Absolutely delicious! Every meal was a highlight, showcasing fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. But what truly set this place apart was the hospitality. The owner went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect, kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our experience memorable. It’s rare to find a place that combines such high standards of service, comfort, and charm. Hotel Amare has become one of my absolute favorite places in Palasë. A hidden gem I can’t wait to return to. Highly, highly recommended!

We had a delicious dinner, and the breakfast was great. The room was large, modern, and clean with a balcony. This is a family-run operation. They are welcoming and work hard, catering to your needs. Verified reviewFound my perfect spot for the summer vacations in Albania! Amare really exceeded my expectations! The room was spotless and stylish, the staff were incredibly warm and attentive, and the location was perfect. I especially loved the relaxing atmosphere and delicious food including here the breakfast buffet, which was a highlight, fresh and diverse unlike anywhere else in south of Albania. Highly recommend for a comfortable and memorable stay!
