Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe breakfast was just OK, and when things ran out, that seemed to be it! The reception lady was friendly but the other staff around the restaurant were indifferent.
Amazing views, including from the room Historic decoration - carved wooden ceiling in bedroom Large fridge in room Air conditioning Bed was an adjustable one with a very good mattress Right in the centre of the bazaar in gjirokastra - couldn't get a better location

NorwayThere’s not much to dislike, except that we got a bit lost navigating the cobbled steeply inclined streets while looking for the hotel — though that was on me, as I missed the detailed directions provided in the welcome message
The location is ideal, situated right next to the Gjirokastër market, making it extremely convenient. The room itself is spacious and features beautiful woodwork and a charming old-world ambiance.

United KingdomWonderful authentic traditional hotel offering large rooms with great views over the old city. Both the restaurant and roof top bars have outstanding views over the city. Right in the centre of the old town so easy to explore castle and old town. Very convenient parking once you get up the very narrow cobbled, steep road! Staff are so helpful and charming.

The girl at the recp desk I think I remember her name properly ( Kella ), she was very helpful and she came to pick us up and was very friendly also she gave us a very warm welcome so we feel like in our house 🙏. Recommend this hotel 10/10. We also tried the restaurant there which has plenty of dishes and was very tasty and the staff were polite and professional. Breakfast has a lot of things to choose from 👌

The hotel was very special, from the windows of the room you can see the whole city, the room was very clean, the sheets, towels, facilities, details, I also really liked the restaurant part, where the food was very tasty especially in the morning with that wonderful view. The girls at the reception were very kind and polite, they helped us upon arrival at the hotel and for any question and help they did not hesitate to be present, they made us feel like we were at home and not like strangers, this is something to be appreciated by the warm hospitality. I will definitely recommend this hotel & restaurant to my friends!!! Thank you Kela & Eneida

RomaniaA wonderful hotel with impressive architecture, located 5 minutes from the castle and one minute from the bazaar. The rooms are the old style, with wood framed windows which let all the cold air from outside into the room. Although we had air conditioning that we could turn on warm, it couldn't cope. I can only say that it is a wonderful accommodation that I highly recommend!!!

United StatesA True Gem in Gjirokastër – Exceptional Care and Service Our recent stay at Hotel Kodra was nothing short of extraordinary. Upon our arrival, our daughter was unfortunately feeling unwell. The care and attention the staff provided were beyond anything we could have expected. They went out of their way to ensure she was comfortable, even taking the time to prepare a special broccoli soup just for her. This level of compassion and service is rare to find, and it made a world of difference to us during our stay. We’ve stayed at several hotels in Gjirokastër, but Hotel Kodra stands out by far. The staff consistently amaze us with their warmth, attentiveness, and willingness to go the extra mile. From the beautiful surroundings to the impeccable service, everything about this hotel is top-notch. We wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Kodra to anyone visiting Gjirokastër. It’s not just a place to stay; it’s a place where you’re truly cared for.

AlbaniaOnly issue is the parking lot and the entrance. It was quite difficult to figure out. Challenging to drive the car up the main hill, then a very strange walk around the building, up some back stairs, then in through a back door. I had to ask for help!
Beautiful view from the hotel with a comfortable and quiet room. I loved the hard wood furniture and decor and the overall warm and unique ambiance that captured the vibe of Gjirokaster as a whole. Perfect location right by the Bazaar
