Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumCome here for the experience, not the comfort: bonfire is great, but the windows are makeshift and let the smoke into our bedroom. Communication wasn’t as fluid as elsewhere. Eg: there was a party at the location, keeping us up for a good while.
Its incredible heritage, fantastic location and delightful fresh cooking was a delight

SwitzerlandThe offroad path that leads to the property, the noisy bricolage works at 8PM (after a long trip that’s the last thing you want to deal with when you deliberately book a quite place instead of an ordinary hotel). Bed sheets were clean but with several stains. On social media they’d advertise 40 EUR / night with dinner and breakfast included. I was charged extra for dinner, while I didn’t consume breakfast as I left early. Not a big deal, and certainly not a matter of money, but as an Albanian, it leaves you that bitter taste. It’s a pity they didn’t opt for indirect or diffused lighting, the lamp in the middle of the room was not optimal. Overall a nice experience, with kind and helpful staff, few improvements to get me there again and rate it with 9/10 or 10/10.
Direct contact with property owner, kind welcome.

LuxembourgBe careful when getting there, Google and Apple Maps can be misleading. We go lost a bit and had to call the host for directions.
Absolutely amazing experience. The house is unique and the surroundings stunning. The host was super nice and helped us find the way via a video call. Delicious breakfast.

NorwayKulla Hupi offers a glimpse into albanian rural culture with its location out in the quiet countryside. The host is a very forthcoming guy who happily will tell you about the history of this special type of traditional house, the village and the locally produced food that is being served. He really cares about his guests and he is passionate about giving his guests the best service. The house has a most beautiful garden with all kinds of food growing in neat rows, cats and dogs sleeping here and there, freshly prepared traditional meals made with ingredients from the house garden and the neighbours. The inside of the house has a very special ambience with its traditional rooms and decorations. Due to its traditional construction the rooms are not soundproof, but that is how it is in this type of house and not something one should expect either. The room I stayed in had a big bed with a matress so nice and soft that it will make you sleep long after a big dinner in the evening. The garden has a stream running through it with chairs placed into the stream itself. Perfect for cooling your feet in the cool clear water while enjoying a cold beer. I highly recommend a stay at Kulla Hupi.

NetherlandsBe aware that the ''twin room" actually is a double room (the pictures are accurate).
We were impressed with Kulla Hupi! The historical building has been renovated with a great eye for detail, and the location is amazing! It's close to the main road, but it feels very remote. Diinner and breakfast, served in the yard, were traditional and delicious. Highly recommended!

United Arab EmiratesWe loved the place, but the experience would have been a total 10 with small changes: As there's no AC (it's an old property and it's understandable) a fan could help, or at least a mosquito net with the door, so that you can open the window/door and get some fresh air, otherwise it gets really hot and we had some trouble sleeping well. The produce is fabulous, all very tasty and yummy. I would work on small details for the better experience. The burek, for instance, was cold and it tastes sooooo much better when hot, so we felt it was a pity, At breakfast, they bring some tomatoes, cucumber, but they didn't come with a bit of oil or bread, so they were yummy but it felt like something was missing (there was also cheese, but a bit of dressing or/and bread would have made it amazing) Those two were the major areas that we saw could be improved. Overall we loved it and enjoyed it, but it would have been a complete joy with those two additions. Thanks for your fabulous hospitality!!
What a gorgeous property and how much history in some square meters!! It's soooo beautiful and rich! We loved the place. It's in a small village in the East of Albania, where there is not much to do apart from walks, some hikes and the peacefulness of the place. It's very rural and has a really quiet vibe. The house is incredibly beautiful and nicely decorated, there's a surrounding orchard and an enclosure with animals. All produces you eat come from the garden so it's all very fresh and tasty. Every room is totally different so keep an eye on what you book and make sure you choose what you saw in the picture :) The family who runs it are absolutely incredible, kind and lovely!

BelgiumThis is a incredible unique place and would be a lovely base for hikers, cyclists, remote workers, young families etc. who want to explore the surrounding nature and mountains and/or relax in the wonderful shady garden. The hosts are very friendly and grow their own food (it's a family affair!), they provide a wonderful breakfast which you can enjoy at one of the many cosy corners in the garden. There is a firepit as well. The house is amazing, the view from the terrace of my room was absolutely incredible. If I could, I would have stayed much longer than one night.

New ZealandAs listed above.
A really unique stay in a very interesting renovated 200 year old fortified tower house. It has a nice leafy location in the small village of Fushe-Bulqiza. They have a large parking lot for your car which was really nice. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and shown to our room. We were put into the “gun room”, the part of the tower used to defend the premises, complete with gun ports all around. Really a neat little room, and I do mean little, as the room itself was barely bigger than the bed! Also the ceiling area is open to the adjacent living area so virtually no sound privacy which we didn’t care much for. Also, there is one small shared bathroom for all the house guests, and again, not much sound privacy in there. The inside of the old house is amazing – stone walls, old wooden roof beams, and lots of old relics of centuries gone by – nice renovation job. The grounds are beautiful as well with nice gardens, outdoor museum, and nice, relaxing sitting areas. The food was a real high point, with wholesome, traditional meals, served on a common table in the dining room. There were 3 other lovely couples staying while we were there and we had some great conversations and made some friends. Now, on the negative side, just so you know what you’re in for: you will have virtually no privacy, even in your room, the sound carries right in through the open ceiling or open stairway. During our stay, there were 4 young children running around the small living area of the house, screaming and crying, resulting in everyone talking loudly so that they could be heard. It was very uncomfortable and we did not enjoy it. People staying up late talking kept us awake, children crying and making noise in the early hours woke us up, and people using the toilet (right next to our room) woke us up during the night. I’m not trying to be critical, I just want people to know what the reality is. If this sounds like your thing, then this will be a wonderful experience!

AustraliaThis is not a complaint but just for travellers information. In keeping with its traditional renovation the Kulla doesn’t have air conditioning, so in hot weather it can be quite warm inside.
An authentic experience in a beautiful traditional Kulla. The Kulla has been lovingly restored using a traditional touch. The grounds, including the gardens and stream are peaceful and lush. The dinner and breakfast were plentiful and delicious. The owner, Luli and his wife have done an amazing job in transforming the Kulla into a wonderful attraction.
