How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI liked everything, it was a very beautiful place. The food, nature and staff are very good.
The road was very narrow and bad. We had to go back almost 300 m, because two cars could not pass on the road.

Verified reviewIts incredible heritage, fantastic location and delightful fresh cooking was a delight
Come here for the experience, not the comfort: bonfire is great, but the windows are makeshift and let the smoke into our bedroom. Communication wasn’t as fluid as elsewhere. Eg: there was a party at the location, keeping us up for a good while.

Verified reviewThe setting is lovely The breakfast is lovely
The property is lovely but it doesn’t offer any basic facilities in the rooms. There wasn’t a mirror in the bedroom and the mirror in the bathroom is tiny and doesn’t stay in position so unless you were eight feet tall you can’t see anything. The rooms are fine I am sure in the summer but early season the nights get very cold and there isn’t any heating. We were booked in for five days and were moved after day two to a different room this room cannot be described as a double room there is barely room to walk down the side of the bed. This room didn’t even have a mirror in the bathroom. The toilet seat wasn’t attached and there was no hot water to the wash basin. There isn’t anywhere to hang clothes so you are living out of a suitcase. Again no heating. We left the hotel after one night in the new room as not having hot water a mirror heating and having to sleep with socks on is a bit too much.
+ The beautiful location. The delicious food. Friendly staff. I had booked incorrectly. A room without a shower and toilet. The friendly owner gave us a room with shower and toilet. Very nice. Through the balcony, to your bathroom. Everything made of wood. No view in, so we could dry off on our balcony. It gave us a sauna idea. It's delicious. Made 2 beautiful komoot walks. The owner is still busy beautifying everything. And it is beautiful. When we said goodbye we were given a jar of cornus mas berries/cherries in juice and a small bottle of olive oil and a hug from the boss. Those who want luxury, comfort and opulence choose a hotel. Those who want to get back to nature choose Kula Hupi.. 🙏

Verified reviewDirect contact with property owner, kind welcome.
The offroad path that leads to the property, the noisy bricolage works at 8PM (after a long trip that’s the last thing you want to deal with when you deliberately book a quite place instead of an ordinary hotel). Bed sheets were clean but with several stains. On social media they’d advertise 40 EUR / night with dinner and breakfast included. I was charged extra for dinner, while I didn’t consume breakfast as I left early. Not a big deal, and certainly not a matter of money, but as an Albanian, it leaves you that bitter taste. It’s a pity they didn’t opt for indirect or diffused lighting, the lamp in the middle of the room was not optimal. Overall a nice experience, with kind and helpful staff, few improvements to get me there again and rate it with 9/10 or 10/10.

Verified reviewThe location, the concept of the Kulla in general, the efforts of Mr. Hupi to cater to everyone s needs. We got a free room upgrade and our puppy was welcome.
We were there during a nearby wedding. The place was quite busy and we did not feel like we would be able to rest.

Verified reviewAbsolutely amazing experience. The house is unique and the surroundings stunning. The host was super nice and helped us find the way via a video call. Delicious breakfast.
Be careful when getting there, Google and Apple Maps can be misleading. We go lost a bit and had to call the host for directions.

Verified reviewWe stayed in the gun room. Location is great and the owners take great pride in preserving the family heritage.
The gun room was very disappointing. It was just about 8 m2 (not 20 m2) with only the bed. The bathroom was not private and very small. The worst was the open ceiling connected to the shared living room. No privacy at all. It felt we were sleeping in a dorm. We felt very misinformed by the advert.
Hello Joldert, I am so sorry because the room you had reserved was like that. Only two rooms in the tower have shared bathroom. All other have their personal bathroom inside. About the open ceiling: The rooms are traditional since the tower was built in 1825. We have not changed the room structure. We have kept it as it was. That is the meaning of the tower. Keeping it traditional. Anyway, we will try to improve everything! Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Verified reviewKulla Hupi offers a glimpse into albanian rural culture with its location out in the quiet countryside. The host is a very forthcoming guy who happily will tell you about the history of this special type of traditional house, the village and the locally produced food that is being served. He really cares about his guests and he is passionate about giving his guests the best service. The house has a most beautiful garden with all kinds of food growing in neat rows, cats and dogs sleeping here and there, freshly prepared traditional meals made with ingredients from the house garden and the neighbours. The inside of the house has a very special ambience with its traditional rooms and decorations. Due to its traditional construction the rooms are not soundproof, but that is how it is in this type of house and not something one should expect either. The room I stayed in had a big bed with a matress so nice and soft that it will make you sleep long after a big dinner in the evening. The garden has a stream running through it with chairs placed into the stream itself. Perfect for cooling your feet in the cool clear water while enjoying a cold beer. I highly recommend a stay at Kulla Hupi.
Thanks a lot for the feedback , loved to have you as our guest🙏🥰

Verified reviewWe were impressed with Kulla Hupi! The historical building has been renovated with a great eye for detail, and the location is amazing! It's close to the main road, but it feels very remote. Diinner and breakfast, served in the yard, were traditional and delicious. Highly recommended!
Be aware that the ''twin room" actually is a double room (the pictures are accurate).
Thanks a lot for the feedback🙏

Verified reviewWhat a gorgeous property and how much history in some square meters!! It's soooo beautiful and rich! We loved the place. It's in a small village in the East of Albania, where there is not much to do apart from walks, some hikes and the peacefulness of the place. It's very rural and has a really quiet vibe. The house is incredibly beautiful and nicely decorated, there's a surrounding orchard and an enclosure with animals. All produces you eat come from the garden so it's all very fresh and tasty. Every room is totally different so keep an eye on what you book and make sure you choose what you saw in the picture :) The family who runs it are absolutely incredible, kind and lovely!
We loved the place, but the experience would have been a total 10 with small changes: As there's no AC (it's an old property and it's understandable) a fan could help, or at least a mosquito net with the door, so that you can open the window/door and get some fresh air, otherwise it gets really hot and we had some trouble sleeping well. The produce is fabulous, all very tasty and yummy. I would work on small details for the better experience. The burek, for instance, was cold and it tastes sooooo much better when hot, so we felt it was a pity, At breakfast, they bring some tomatoes, cucumber, but they didn't come with a bit of oil or bread, so they were yummy but it felt like something was missing (there was also cheese, but a bit of dressing or/and bread would have made it amazing) Those two were the major areas that we saw could be improved. Overall we loved it and enjoyed it, but it would have been a complete joy with those two additions. Thanks for your fabulous hospitality!!

They mixed up our bill with other peoples order. Still very ok, but a little bit annoying.

Verified reviewThis is a incredible unique place and would be a lovely base for hikers, cyclists, remote workers, young families etc. who want to explore the surrounding nature and mountains and/or relax in the wonderful shady garden. The hosts are very friendly and grow their own food (it's a family affair!), they provide a wonderful breakfast which you can enjoy at one of the many cosy corners in the garden. There is a firepit as well. The house is amazing, the view from the terrace of my room was absolutely incredible. If I could, I would have stayed much longer than one night.
Thanks a lot for the review! Hopefully you can come back and stay much longer! Great to host you 😊

The double room with private bathroom is extremely small, should rather be a single room.
Thanks a lot, great to have you as our guest 😊 We try to do our best to solve even the smaller issue we have
