Reviews of Mikel Center Theth Guesthouse

People are very friendly and we got lucky to get a house where everything was very nice. (Some reviews spoke of a bad smell - we did not experience that). Local house restaurant has amazing food, simple, it tastes beautiful.

Bed was a bit too hard for my liking, but it seems it’s a trend in Albania in general. Breakfast was nothing to boast about, place is tricky to find due to google maps confusion. Try several different apps. This place is near the center - after passing main bridge turn right (google showed left for some reason)

Good location, comfy bed

Not great breakfast (cold coffee), room didn’t have any sort of hooks for towels, our room didn’t have any WiFi either. Shower didn’t drain well either, not great value for money but nowhere in Theth is.

The facilities were ok, but what a horrible hosting experience. I have yet to meet such an obnoxious host. Maybe it was that we were a gay couple but maybe not, hard to tell.

The beds were very comfy, the location was great and central to everything including restaurants, buses to the blue eye and buses leaving theth. Shower pressure was good, always hot. Breakfast provided; traditional and well-stocked including coffee and juice.

The check in process was lengthy due to the host being preoccupied with other tasks. We had just completed the hike from Valbona so it would have been good to be able to check in quickly and easily rather than wait. Throughout our stay the host was not as friendly as other Albanian hosts we have stayed with. This can be improved with a smile and more words. We paid €65 per night but in our opinion, overall this should have been €45. There is a dog at the property that barks during the night which can be difficult to sleep through. The towels are small and could be thicker and larger. Overall, if the host was more friendly, the whole experience would be improved which appears in line with other reviews.

Hard to find - google maps takes you to the wrong place & it’s not signposted Poor communication from the owner and he was quite rude - he said it was fine to have early breakfast so we could start our hike early, but then he never turned up. So we were late to start our hike as we waited for half an hour but he still never turned up. He did kindly give us lunch instead but it was frustrating to have been lied to & waste time early in the morning. There is no fan or aircon in the room so it’s very hot in peak summer There was no hot water so the only option was an extremely cold shower… which was fine as it was so hot, but also it was so cold that it took your breath away, so washing hair was a no-go The toilet lid is glued down so it’s hard to use the toilet, a bit strange but not a huge issue All in all, I wouldn’t go back here and I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend, but it was ok. Just overpriced for what you’re getting.

The location was easy to find and super central within Theth. Breakfast was nice and very traditional, homemade jams, fresh eggs and the likes.

The house and room didn’t seem fully completed. Not details but the floor entrance was loose, the toilet seat fell off. Nothing to hang towels.

Location but there are plenty of other, better guesthouses whose location is equally fantastical and convenient.

- intermittent electricity blackouts - cold host, completely disinterested in his guests but interested in complete payment before check-in - poorly maintained building, rooms and bathrooms: staircase falling apart, toilet seat glued with costruction foam (clearly a botched job that nobody has taken care of so far), limited hot water in the shower, cold water only in the tap, no bedside table lamps, not a single shelf or wardrobe, poor insullation and very hot inside - signficicantly overpriced considering the standard- you will be much better off booking something literally nextdoors and it will be slightly cheaper for you

Very nice host, great location, also the breakfast was very tasty and they made it earlier for us since we needed to leave for a hike. Overall very pleasant experience.

The host is nice, welcoming and respectful. The place is comfy and warm. The hot shower is soothing and relaxing. The place felt just like home as neighbors are all nice.

The dogs can be disturbing during night especially if you went through a long and rough day and want a nice sleep.

Rooms were great, clean, and private. Beds were very comfortable and cozy.

The service left a lot to be desired. There was a lot of miscommunication. Rooms were not ready when they said they would be. We asked about breakfast time, and they said they would do it earlier because we were leaving to hike, but it did not happen. When breakfast was ready, it was lacking. It was not enough to serve our group of 5, let alone the rest of the guests. And at that, it was just bread, jam, cheese, and petula. Pleasant but insufficient for the price.

Location was very central. Easy to walk to the restaurants. Room was simple and clean. Exactly as described

It did get warm at night as we were there in the height of summer. A fan would be very useful.

We had a really nice stay! The host was incredibly helpful with everything going above and beyond to make sure we had more than we needed. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we were looking for. One of the highlights was the breakfast: homemade with local ingredients and absolutely delicious! You can really taste the care and quality in every bite. Would definitely recommend!
