Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelThere is no elevator. It was difficult for us to climb to higher floors. There is no kettle and cups for making coffee. The bathrooms are very crowded. There is no phone in the room and it is impossible to communicate with the guy at the reception or maintenance. Even those who are not staying at the hotel can buy a sunbed and umbrella for a fee, so there is more crowding. Music all along the beach, all day long. There is no corner of peace and quiet
The hotel is built on a lovely private beach. The hotel is very clean, with balconies overlooking the view. Reasonable breakfast. The service is okay.

IrelandFirstly, one thing that stood out to us was the disregard for the monkey who was allowed to roam around with kids who didn't seem to be checked by the parents or staff, they were left to do as they wished with the animals. We could clearly see the monkey was being tormented and felt so sorry for him. Even though he might be used to people, it's still unsafe for kids and the monkey. The birds also seemed stressed out with the same situation.
Beach was incredible. We loved the beach, and the staff were nice, especially Jessica. On the front of the reception, the girl deserves a raise for how well mannered and helpful she was on our whole stay! She was so helpful and having found some people rude towards us she was always a friendly face and perfect first contact to every guest especially for europeans. Room was also lovely. Just as hard as I was pregnant, the stairs killed me. Would definitely return!! Will recommend it.

United KingdomThere really isn’t much I could fault about the hotel. Maybe a kettle in the rooms with tea and coffee and English tea bags at breakfast, these are really tiny details as our stay was so great
It was so clean, the staff were incredible. The breakfast was great as was dinner when we ate at the hotel. The aircon in the rooms worked really well. The beach was beautiful.

United KingdomNo lift or help with cases. We requested a low floor by email which was replied to and was agreed but we were on the 3rd and 4th floor when we arrived. Luckily we were able to move to a lower available room but still had one flight of stairs. The single bed was actually a pull out bed. The beds were quite hard. Bedside lights didn't work but we didn't mention this so may have repaired if we had asked. The bathroom smelled of sewage which came up from the shower drain. The area is very hilly and too far to walk into Saranda. Taxis were between 10 and 20 euro so it worked out very expensive if you don't have a car. The outside toilets next to the beach was very smelly and wet floor constantly. Bar service was very slow and on the beach but the staff were lovely when you spoke to them. The restaurant food was a bit mixed. We ate twice and some meals were good and some not so nice.
The friendly reception staff especially the lady who went out of her way to be helpful. The room air-conditioning was fantastic The View was stunning. Room safe was free and also a fridge in the room. 2 small bottles of water were provided daily which was nice. Room cleaned daily and plenty of towels provided. Plenty of comfortable sun loungers around the beach. Everywhere looks lovely and well maintained gardens and very clean. The evening everywhere was lit up and looked lovely. Pizzas were lovely Breakfast was ok

United Arab EmiratesThe room space is large but furnished with very old furniture and has poor facilities. However, this isn't a major issue if you prioritize activities and hotel amenities over the room itself. Initially, we were concerned about the cleanliness due to the presence of small bugs, which are common in Sarande. Indeed, there were many bugs in the room, but the staff promptly provided room service to clean and change all the sheets before our stay. Additionally, be aware that in this specific location in Sarande, you won't be connected to Albanian services for calls and internet; instead, you will be roaming to Greece because it's very close by. Therefore, you'll need to rely on the hotel's Wi-Fi, which is acceptable but requires switching between different networks for the room, beach, and other areas. The room comes with towels, but you need to pay for beach towels, so it's better to bring your own. Note that there is no elevator at Mucobega 1 Hotel since it's quite old, so you'll need to use the stairs to access the rooms on all three floors. Alternatively, you can book at Mucobega 2, which offers an elevator, modern building, and furniture, though the view is better at Mucobega 1, and it is closer to the sea.
I did a lot of research before booking this hotel, and after staying there, I believe it's one of the best in Sarande. It provided excellent value for money, with a stunning sea view from the balcony and a spacious beach area with plenty of sunbeds. Although we were initially worried because the beach is not completely private—people can pay around 20 euros to enter without booking at the hotel—it was not crowded at all when we visited in June. The beach itself is sandy with small rocks in the sunbeds area, which is rare in Sarande, where most beaches are rocky. The breakfast offered a good variety, and the nightly bonfire activity at the restobar, complete with bean bags and music, was very relaxing. Additionally, the hotel provides free parking, which was crucial for us. Its location is also convenient, just a 10-minute drive from the city center, with restaurants and a supermarket nearby that offer free delivery if needed. Moreover, guests have access to the pool at Mucobega Hotel 2 if desired.

PortugalIts a bit far from the center (20-30 min walk). The breakfast was not good. There were a lot of options, but it just wasnt on the same level as other things. Food that should have been hot was not being kept warm and some food just seemed to be of a lesser quality.
It has its own beautiful private beach (included in the price) and the rooms are really comfortable and modern. The stuff is really helpful and kind.

Hotel was supposed to charge credit card before the stay, but instead of that we had to pay in cash in the hotel. Stuff at the reception said they don’t accept cards despite logos of main leading credit cards companies and banks at the reception. The room we got smelt like a smoke, we got promptly another room so no issue. The beach was great, breakfasts fine. You need a car to reach the hotel so be prepared. I’m overall it was good, only downside is the card payment otherwise it was good value of money.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaThere was too many kids on the beach. In order to relax and not hear them scream all the time we took the sunbeds in the last row. The bathroom smelled horrible during our entire stay. I think the smell was coming from the drain. The toilet on the beach was very dirty.

United Arab EmiratesThe location of the hotel was excellent with its own little private beach and great sunset views. The hotel staff was very helpful and attentive. It was a little far from the center of the city, but the peace and quite made up for it. Since we had our own rental car, it was easy to go to the city center. Since we went in late May, the water was still cold, we did not swim in the sea. Yet, it was perfect to relax on the lounge chairs of the beach, sipping on wine and hot chocolate while watching the sunset.
